  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all I am new the the forum as well as Genesis. I had Mercedes cars and still have one Mercedes but this Genesis is all new for me. I got the 2022 G70 with the top trim. Only thing I did not get was all wheel drive.

So far I really like the car. But I do have one annoyance. The active steering assist when driving down the expressway often does a lot of quick corrections to keep the car centered in the lane. The annoyance is it makes the steering wheel jerky in my hand while this is happening. It can be so annoying that I will turn the feature off.

I have been in a number of cars with active steering assist. Some wander all over the lane, others are perfect in the lane with no issues. This car is perfect in the lane but with the jerky steering wheel.

Anyone else have this and find if annoying?

Katie

Welcome! You're not alone; I found it so annoying that I never have it on.

At least in the 2021, there is a choice between a regular lane assist and an active lane assist which is supposed to be more…adjusty.

ive always hated the micro adjustments these systems make and always toggle off. I do leave the active setting however so if i do toggle it on if i need to tinker with the head unit but i will toggle it off asap

I only use active lane assist on the highway. Hasn’t really given me any issues on the highway and I mostly like it. When approaching and passing an exit ramp i have a little more firm grip on the wheel for sometimes it will attempt to follow the exit lane stripping and slightly jerk the wheel. Other than those instances it is smooth and steady. Around town I keep it off for don’t like to feel small movements of the wheel while driving for it just makes me feel like it’s fighting me. Above 60mph on the highway I have no complaints.

I had the same issues. It seemed to be more pronounced with new tires. I had the front tires down to 5/32” and was not as twitchy. I just replaced the fronts with PS4S’s and back to twitch mode. I usually keep it in standard mode now not active.

Interesting about the tires. I thank you all for your inputs. At least its not just me that thinks the feature is wonky.......
