  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, first time poster and just bought a new-to-me 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD with Ultimate package. I'm also new to Genesis, coming from Cadillac.

My question is about the myHyundai Blue Link Android app. I think that I lock the car when I exit the vehicle, using either the handle button or the key fob. If I check the Vehicle Status from the app, it reports that the door are Unlocked. If I remotely tell it to lock the doors, then it reports the doors as Locked.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Thanks!

John

No, that app sucks. Now I have to say, it has gotten better since I first used it last year. But I wouldn't be surprised if your not getting accurate status. I would clear the data out, and uninstall the app. Reinstall and re-setup and try that. Only reason I have been using it lately is for remote start. I think I've found a solution using the factory remote with an aftermarket module... Just have to validate cost.

If you just go to the status the data is old. There may be a refresh button at the top. Press it and you will get the current status (takes several seconds). I believe that locking or unlocking automatically refreshes to show the current status. I am basing all this on the Genesis intelligent Assistant so let’s hope they are similar enough.

There is an refresh button to update status. This is on the Genesis app, however, not the Hyundai Blue Link app.

There is a refresh button in the app. It's after I tap that and wait that it says it's unlocked.

Does the Genesis app work for 2015s? I haven't heard of it.

my understanding is the Genesis app works solely with the 2015 models. It has essentially the same features as the Hyundai Blue Link app but wrapped in a different ‘skin’ (Genesis badging, dark blues & grey/black palette). The same luke-warm reviews as the Hyundai BL app, but it gets the job done.

Mine works with my 2015 and 2018. I don't know why it would be restricted to a single year. It can work with multiple cars too, I had both on it initially, you just select the car you want.

If you find a solution to remote start not using the app, please share! Thank you!

You can use your computer but that is just a clunky. The Genesis app has been 100% reliable for starts recently. It used to be about 70% last winter. Still not as easy as an after market starter with fob though.
