If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Good afternoon! Quick question for you folks, Im in canada, rough winters, and just had a baby boy a few months ago so definitely going winter tire route (Got Blizzaks DMV2), in the 19 inch variety. Although my GV70 has the 21 inch tires, just going to store them on rim, over winter
Ofcourse, I am going to get some wheels later this week, wasn't sure what the official specs are for the OEM 19, but I think I'd be OK with 8.5x19 et 35 ?

My question was really about TPMS sensors, in past I've just went without them and lived with the low pressure warning, but this year I'd rather have them. Do you know where the cheapest ones I could get are, that would work. Definitely not going to get them from dealer, for obvious reasons, if I could. My bills already adding up with the wheels and tires so being a little frugal here. Once obtained, could I just give them to my tire installer (not the dealership) and they'll figure it out in terms of installing them with the new tires and wheels, or are they a little more advanced than that these days (car is very high tech so not sure what system it uses)

Thanks in advanced!

Tire installer will probably sell them.

You might have to have your current ones swapped into the winter wheels/tires for now; then have new ones put back in. You have to assume they will be more widely available when you put the OEMs wheels back on in spring. I see that even TireRack does not have sensors for the GV70

TPMS sensors are not too expensive. When I bought a second set of wheels / tires for my Veloster N I had TireRack install the 433 Mhz TPMS sensors. The new sensors did not even have to pair from what could tell. I could see my tire pressures on the dashboard right away. I swap between my OEM 19" and my Rial Lucca 18" wheels without any issues. Have the installer put 433 Mhz units on and I would expect you should be fine.

This might be a case of where the Hyundai relationship helps out Genesis owners. Tire Rack sells the standard Hyundai 433MHZ TPMS sensors for ~$50 each. They also don't indicate that they will fit the Genesis GV70, but I would think it's likely they would. Why recreate the "wheel" when you have a system that already works very well.

Honestly, except for the lack of features, my Veloster N is a lot like our Genesis. Everything works the same way. I would bet money they are not changing TPMS sensors for a "highline" model. I am sure everything will work fine.

On the subject of tires in Canada I'm not all that knowledgeable and wanted to get some opinions. Assuming I can't get the dealer to throw in winter tires which is probably a safe assumption, tire shop recommended Continental IceContact XTRM. They seem to be pretty new so couldn't find too many reviews online, but feedback seemed good. I'm hopefully receiving the car in November 2.5 Advanced Trim so 19" wheels. In Montreal so winters can be pretty bad.

I ran all season on my awd edge and mkx. At no time did I feed I needed more tire. I would not opt for winter tires

In the province of Quebec it is illegal to not have winter tires installed on your car as of December 1,
This side of the river, it's not mandatory but you'd be crazy not to have winter tires. Note that you can get a 7-day exemption for QC car for a few specific reasons (up to 4 times a season). Typical reasons are to return a leased vehicle, and to enter/leave the province (e.g. driving to FL after Dec 1, or coming back to QC before Mar 15).

Genesis.ca does show some winter tires and wheels (rims+tires) though they're expensive. TireRack does not show rims for the GV70 but some others such as 1010tires.com (BC) do. I'd want to make sure I ran any options by the experts here (not me) since at one time 1010tires.com showed an 18" alternative that was slightly different (5 on the ratio #, I think) than the 18" trim of the GV70.

There's another thread somewhere here, but I think it's running about 3-4 months from order? IOW people getting delivery now, ordered in June. I ordered mid-August and the GXM/salesman truly has no idea (the only data point he could share, was that when the VIN appears on an order as being in production, about 2 weeks later the status changes to being on the ship, and about 4 weeks later the car is ready for delivery to the customer. The only thing I've heard since ordering, is when he called to say there was a car in the country of same trim level and same interior, but different exterior, and did I want that in 2 weeks. I said no and I'm back to waiting.

I agree that the previous order probably didn't get you higher priority, but maybe it did (perhaps depending how they changed it, a new order or a change). If you get it Nov 19, that would be about 3.5 months from date of order. If my GXM's experience of 6 weeks from VIN assignment to vehicle in customer's hands is accurate, you should be getting a VIN about now.

Of course all these estimates, even if accurate, are based on experience in the past and "past results are not an indicator of future performance" as the investment houses say.

I'm in Toronto and my 2.5T is suppose to arrive in Nov. I have bought 4 Continental Viking Contact 7 (235/55 R19) and Niche Vosso wheels (19x8.5, 5x114.3mm, 72.6m) as I saw them for really good prices (C$683 for tires, $1020 for rims). My tire shop said he can sell me TPMS for another C$260, presumably after market ones.

Where did you purchase from? What wheels did you decide on?

That does seem like a really good deal, especially the tires. Not sure price difference between those and the IceContact XTRM, but I was quoted 1400$ for them in 19". 100$ mail-in rebate I believe but doesn't change much. You mind me asking for the store's name, might be worth having them shipped for that much savings.

Agreed, that's why I'm not sure where the person I was replying to is located, but will obviously be getting winter tires.

Not counting on it, but the salesperson said he could maybe work something out on accessories so will try to get a significant discount on their 18" wheel + tire package that's offered on the site.

Where is this deal? I need it lol

The tires I ordered on blackcircles.ca and includes shipping. But I just checked and they cost a bit more now. The wheels I ordered from a local shop Simply Tire.

I’m told I can get 235/60/18 from my dealer. Michelin XIce and I’m waiting in prices for 18” wheels with sensors for the winter season.
