  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Test drove a G70 3.3T in Richmond BC yesterday, really like it, compared to my current car (a IS350). Got a couple of questions for active dealer members here:

- can a customer request the 5 spoke wheels on the sport model be replaced with the 10 spoke ones? I really don't understand Genesis's decision on this, it should've been the other way around.

- will there be a sports exhaust option coming? Sucks to see the sports pipes on the 2.0 but not the 3.3. another Genesis decision that has me scratching my head around.

I will probably wait until later in the year to lease one, hoping there will be a better lease rate or a manufacture year end discount.

^ +1 on the wheels. I mentioned this in another thread, and auto industry reviewers are also saying the same thing. The black 5 spoke wheels just don’t suit the car.

I will also be pressing the dealer to swap out 5 spokes for 10 spokes. I’m sure anything is possible if they want the sale. Still waiting to test out the 2.0 Sport 6MT.

I definitly disagree about the wheels, the 5 spoke turn this thing into a really sporty looking ride, obviously we all have our preferences but also these 5 spoke wheels are not quite black, in person it is easier to see they are more of a dark gunmetal. Although i do agree everyone should have an option in wheels... i mean come on!

I totaly agree about the exhaust... if i am paying the top dollar i want the best sounding exhauat that for sure makes no sense

I'm with you on the color, it is not black and the wheel looks better in person, I just feel that the 10 spoke is a bit sportier, I don't hate the 5 spoke, don't get me wrong.

Perhaps they want to advertise the g70 as a fast luxury sedan rather than a sporty sedan, hence the lack of sports exhaust.

It is crazy if there is no option to switch wheels... i mean its probably the easiest thing to change lol...

Or maybe the 10 spoke ones are not stagger? I didn't look into that.

I think they are as they are used in the top trim in korea but i cant say for sure

The 3.3T Sport trim floor model at the Vancity auto show had the 10 spokes with staggered setup. It’s what caught my eye, and what I’d want. The genesis online configuration also showed the 10 spokes on the Sport until a couple of weeks ago.

Not that the dark 5 spokes are offensive in any way, just not my style or well suited to the vehicle.

I also prefer the 10-spoke wheels, at least in photos and videos. I guess the darker wheels are in keeping with the dark chrome on the higher models. While I think the dark chrome is fine, I much prefer the bright wheels over the dark 5-spokers. They might look better in person, though, than they do in photos. And it's not like they're awful. I just prefer the others.

And I'd also vote for a sport exhaust. An adjustable exhaust that lets you open or close baffles to regulate loudness would be ideal and seems in keeping with the dual sport/luxury nature of the car. I'm sure there will be after-market options for both wheels and exhaust but I really don't like going that route. I want a car to have the things I want from the get-go without my needing to have it altered.

I honestly think they are playing with different rims for different markets. If you look at the official brochure...these 5-spoke rims are not even listed. The 10-spoke rims are listed...and yes they are offset. It's like these 5-spoke rims showed up for the Canadian market. Prior to that...did anyone even see these rims?

I have a funny feeling the USA market might get even different rims...or options...maybe.

And...I am in utter shock that the 3.3T does not have a sport exhaust while the 4 banger does. That is just bizarre. At a minimum...they need to offer a sport/performance exhaust as an upgrade or something. I would pay for it.

Hi!

- You cannot switch wheels, unfortunately.
- I've heard talks of having a louder exhaust as an OEM accessory.
- Lease numbers will be better now as residuals are higher now than later on in the year but a lower rate isn't guaranteed (a lower lease interest rate was the perk of pre-ordering). The residuals are very, very high for the 3.3T Sport.

Question for those who have seen a 6MT Sport model: it has dual tailpipes on either side of the rear end, correct? I’ve not seen many photos, but one photo i did see (from an angle) made it look like there were just twinned outlets on the passenger side. I certainly hope i was just seeing it incorrectly. Dual tailpipes are pretty much a given these days for this type of car, and we’ve grown used to the preferred symmetry.

Thanks in advance!

One exhaust...with 2 tips...passenger side.

I think the 2-liter has two round exhaust tips on the passenger side only while the 3.3 has a larger, oval exhaust tip on both the driver and passenger side.

Thanks guys. Too bad, maybe it’s got to do with it having the sport exhaust, but no question the dual pipes either side is a much cleaner look these days...

^^ thank you GenesisYEG, great shot there. Crystal clear now. If only those were quad tips (2 a side).

I'm over aftermarket exhausts, and like the dark 5 spoke wheels on the sport trim. What I'd like to see are springs that produce a mild drop - say 1" for the 3.3.

Super bummed about the lack of sport exhaust on the 6MT sport. Probably go for Golf R now.
