  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,

Used to own a 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 RSPEC. Loved the car but needed more practicality so I bought a WRX. Never really liked it and missed my Genesis.

Long story short after about a month of cross checking, test drives, and pricing, I've decided the Genesis Sedan RSPEC is the car for me. I'm in love with it.

Here is my only issue. I have two vehicles. One is white which is what I would prefer, the other is black.

2013 Black 30,000 miles NON CERTIFIED $28,000

2013 White 40,000 miles CERTIFIED $26,000

I am in the right to believe that the black one is overpriced? It has less miles, but isn't certified, and its clear that the previous owner scuffed the rear bumper on a trash can or something. I feel like I have every right to demand at least a meet in the middle type of price. Or should I just go for the white one.

What do you all think? Thanks again.

Posted prices for used cars are the "asking price." All prices are subject to negotiation. The first offer you make should be below what you are willing to pay. Be somewhat patient, but don't act like you really want that particular car when discussing with the salesman.

This thread means nothing any longer.

I'm officially the owner of a black 2013 Genesis sedan 5.0 and I can not be more impressed. This car is so amazing for the money.

Well that was fast. The white one sounded like a good offer.

How much did you pick up the 5.0 for and miles?

Yeah that was easily the fastest purchase I've ever made. White one ended up not being a good offer. They refused to go lower than $29,000 OTD.

On the black one I got $1500 more on my trade-in, and they finished at $29,200 OTD with 30,000 miles with unlimited detailing as an extra. Overall I feel very strongly that I got a pretty decent deal for a one day discussion.

I'll say it again, this car is incredible. I thought my 300HP tuned WRX was fast but this car is insane. I took my friend for a ride and his literal words were "yeah holy shit." This is coming from a guy who tunes GTRs for a living.

I hope this car continues to amaze me.

IMO, the OTD price is irrelevant. Each state/county calculates taxes, fees, registration, etc. differently.

The only number that matters is the price of the car itself when comparing deals.

Case in point: You mentioned the dealer was asking $26,000 for the white Genesis, but wouldn't go lower than $29,000 OTD. For everyone besides you, this doesn't make any sense.

Congrats on your purchase! The 2013 (and 2014) model year is very good.

I have yet to drive a 5.0 Genesis but the v6 makes me smile. Very smooth and has the power when needed. The 5.0 has to be amazing, congratulations and enjoy it!
