  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know what the stock windows have in regards to UV protection? Doing some digging, it looks like Saint-Gobain Sekurit has some sort of UV protection, but its not the same symbol shown on my window, it's missing the UV icon. My driver side front window stamp is shown, along with the supposed icon for the UV protection symbol.

Here's the website URL for their windows:

I use Griots Interior Cleaner and follow up with Interior Detailer which has a UV protective component (I stopped using F2K a long while ago). Ppl, not from TX (or a true sunny state) don't really get how fast UV will destroy leather/vinyl/etc, so it's nice to have a reliable brand available that does what F2K used to w/o the the shine, grease, stench, and dust attracting residue. To address the orig post, I don't know so I shouldn't comment.

I guess I should have specified. I was curious what the stock UV protection of the windows are. Saint-Gobain Sekurit is the name of the window manufacturer, not an aftermarket UV product.

I can't say specifically what the level of UV protection is on the stock glass, but I can tell you that it's enough filtering that photo-gray lenses don't fully react to the light.
That's been true for all of the cars I've owned since about 2010. Prior to that, my prescription lenses would react enough that I did not feel the need for separate sun glasses. Now, I always have a set in the car.

As a testing base, using my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge's UV sensor (I know there is definitely some discrepancy on the accuracy of the sensor), running multiple tests with the phone in the same place in direct sunlight through a window, with both window up and down, I consistently got medium-high UV readings with the windows down and always bottom of the bar low with the windows up.

Do you have metallized window tint?

Nope. Stock clearish windows
