  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How bad is the turbo lag? I've got a bad image about turbos stuck into me because I borrowed an Audi A4 1.8T before and the turbo lag made it very unpleasant to drive. For example, My ex-Hyundai Elantra has power right when you stepped on the gas and got power on demand. On the Audi 1.8t, there's a lag and for a first time driver on a Turbo, your first instinct is to step on the gas harder to get power. AFter the lag is done, you get this massive amount of power.

Is this how it's like on the 2.0l Turbo? I would like instant power like on Naturally Aspirated cars.

Was the Audi modified? I ask because my old 1.8T had very little lag at all. Sorry I can't help with your question...

I've driven several and coming from a 2.0T in my WRX it's very minimal in the GennyCoupe. I think it's very responsive down low but falls on its face up top. To me, it needs more turbo! But I bet once you do a turboback setup and get a tune, it should be right where you'd love it.

If you buy a 2.0T, you will want to do the upgrades offered by AMS or whoever else offers quality parts. If you don't want to modify your car, then I'd definately recommend the 3.8 model. They are very impressive for response and good power.

I just love the possibilities for easy power with a turbocharged powerplant. Maybe it's just me, and please take my two cents for what it's worth.

usually STOCK turbo are responsive on the bottle end then "runs outta turbo" top end...

with everything.. once you mod with bigger things, you get lag...
