  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Gen Coupe Folks.

I have a 2019 G70 6MT that I'm going to be autocrossing and occasionally doing HDPEs and SCCA Track Night in America sessions with. The transmission is the same as what was available in the Gen Coupe, which is what brings me here.

The G70s are still new, and there's only a couple hundred of us who bought the 6MT, so I figured you guys would have more experience with this transmission.

Overall I like the transmission but it seems to hang up a bit when shifting into 4th and 5th and I recently had it grind when going into 4th at 17k miles. No where near as bad as the 2019 VW Jetta I traded in for it that refused to take 1st and 2nd without double clutching and routinely would grind going into reverse, but I'm thinking a trans fluid change and maybe an additive may be helpful.

So here are my questions:
1. I see some mention of using AC Delco Synchromesh 10-4014 and other non Hyundai recommended fluids, is there any consensus or preference?
2. Some folks mentioned using Liquimoly Ceratec additive. That's great stuff, and I keep it on hand prevent cam wear and other issues in my Mercedes SL. For the folks that use it, what are your experiences, and how much do you use? Would you recommend using it with the Hyundai manual trans oil or with a different oil?
3. Anything I should watch out for on the transmission or limited slip diff? I bought the car new and plan to keep it to at least 200k miles (my parents, brother, and I typically keep cars though to the end of their useful life - which is why we have a Mercedes with 300k miles in the family)

Thanks in advance for your help and recommendations.

The gc 6 speed routinely had assembly issues that resulted in poor shifting. Redline MT-85 is a generally recommended oil.
