In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I have 10,000 miles left on my 60K warranty is this a warranty item? it just fell and crumbled?

Probably best to call your service tech at local Hyundai and ask for estimate of time. They usually give loaners for repairs that are longer term.

Mine just did the same thing. My trunk latch rubber switch material disintegrated about a year earlier and now the two small black plastic strips about 3" wide along the pano roof are very much looking oxidized. Starting to question some of the trim materials selections on this 4yr. old vehicle. It only took about an hour at the dealership to correct for the light gasket.

I have the same problem. Hyundai extended warrenty refused to cover the repair cost because they claim that it is a seal that has gone bad, and they do not cover seals.

I not under the extended warranty yet still with in the 5/60000 they looked at it today and ordered a whole new assembly said they just can’t replace the gasket

Anybody have any luck with using a bike tire repair kit for the disintegrating rubber around the trunk latch? Seems like that should work.

Mine just crumbled and did the same exact thing... 2015, 45,000 miles. I'm planning on having it looked at during my next oil change in ~3 months. How long was the repair time? Wait for it or get a loaner?

Known problem on all of 'em, just a badly sourced part. They did mine ('16, 38k) same day with an oil change, but I left it as had them do other things as well. Would think it's doable on a wait if just those two items.

Crud. I just noticed mine is doing the same thing. Now I know why my brake light lights up in the back seat. I assume this is expensive so it looks like I’m going to use a bit of bike tube to fix this.

Add my 2015 with less than 20,000 miles to this list...noticed the back seat was lit up at night when braking and found the crumbling rubber. Dealership is replacing the housing under warranty.

Hey Celltech, I was just curious. Does your car sit in the sun all the time or do you have it garaged? I ask this because it seems like you folks in the south are having these types of problems. Here in the north I have not experienced these problems. Should I say yet? I was wondering if the heat and the sun were causing these issues?

Sadly it has to sit in the sun...wife gets the honor of dry parking.
Yes the sun is very damaging over long term, how it just brakes stuff down ! Thanks for the reply. After I read some of the post about things like that happening I go and check my genny and I find no sign of that. I think never sitting in the sun ,nor experiencing the extreme heat helps me out. Thanks 👍

Had mine replaced under warranty, part 92700-B1000. It's the whole 3rd brake light as they can't get just the rubber part. Guess a few more years in the sun and it will be toast as well...

Mine just sagged and crumbled and I'm out of warranty. There should be a tsb and warranty extension on this part. Does anyone know the procedure to replace the 3rd brake light assembly?

Mine as well...Had the dealer check it out for me and they claimed it was not a warranty issue and I was at 58k miles...I asked them to see what they could do to help and Genesis said I would be responsible for $90 in labor. So they ordered the part and I have been waiting since Oct 2020, I have checked back and they are telling me the part is still on order??? I am glad I have it in writing on my last service receipt what they promised to cover.

It should be covered by warranty 100%. The part is around $200 and there are a few slightly different part numbers. I'm trying to find a DIY instruction to replace it. Looks like the rear of the headliner must be removed. trying to mickey mouse it with black tape is just wrong.
