  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Was given a 2017 as a loner and I have to say the tech in this car is leaps and bounds beyond my girl. The one thing that stands out the most is the smoother ride and the fact that they finally got the trackion control or power management right. My 4.6 will simply not go if the wheel is cut(pulling out of a side road) where as this 2017 3.8 goes when I punch it. So on to the questions:

Did they produce a V8 2016 model (auto trader says no) all I see are 3.8's

Does the rear wheel drive V8 2015-2017 act like the 2017 3.8 I described re: traction control, or is it too muzzeled like my 2010 4.6? (God I hope not)

Thanks folks, I realize I could go to a dealer (and I will) but I figured I would start here first. This forum was indispensable for info when I bought my first Genny, and I'd hope none of that has changed.

In the US market, there is no 2016 V8.
IMHO, the rear wheel drive V8 2015-2017 acts like the 2017 3.8 you described, wrt traction control.

Hyundai did not sell any 5.0s in the US in 2016, only in Canada.

The traction control in my '15 3.8 Ultimate sedan is far less intrusive and much better mannered than my 2010 3.8 Coupe's (which is a PITA).

I can't speak from direct experience, but I would bet the 2015 Genesis or 2017 G80 V8s are light years ahead of your 2010 in terms of traction control.

BTW, I think all dealers should have a G80 or Genesis on hand as a loaner; they would greatly increase their sales of those cars by simply letting people drive them.

That's how I ended up getting my sedan, and it sounds like Vermillion has now been bitten by the trade-in bug.
