  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I like my new Genesis, but I find the owner's manual a real pain, and there are so many features it is rather overwhelming. Does anyone happen to know:

1. One feature I wanted when I bought this was the parking sensor (letting me know when I am going to hit the curb). I am not getting any such warnings. What is with that?

2. Once I turn on the Nav system and set a destination, I can't figure out how to turn that off again (except by actually reaching the destination). How do I do that? There is an AV off button, but no way to get the cursor up there. I don't find it in Settings. There should be a big NAV OFF button easy to use!

3. The light in the car no longer comes on when the door is open at night. ??

4. A lot of the time when I have the radio key in my hand and I want to open the passenger door as well as the driver door, pressing twice doesn't do it. What's the trick there?

Thanks.

1. First, make sure you have turned the "parking system" on. It is the first button on the lower left hand side of the dash. The sensors will detect objects infront or behind your car. The curb to far too low for the sonsor to detect it properly. If you are backing up watch for the curb on the backup camera.

2. There is no straight forward way to turn off (cancel) the route guiding once started. There is a way to stop the it. You may want to search the forum for the procedures.

3. You mention the light wouldn't come on at night time, what about during daytime? This one is really strange.

4. Not sure which button you were pushing. The button on the remote or on the driver's door handle or the passenger's door handle? If you were pushing the buttin on the passenger door handle you only need to push it once and all doors will be unlocked. If you push it the second time it will lock all doors again.

Hope this helps.

Re. #2: Press the voice command button on the steering wheel, wait for the beep, then say "Cancel Navigation"

Re. #3: Make sure the "Door" button in the overhead lighting console is depressed for the lights to come on when the door is opened.

3. If you look at the ceiling console there is a button that says DOOR. If you push this in then the light will come on whenever the door is opened. If it is not depressed then the light will only come on when you press ROOM button.

Edit: sorry must have been typing this as wordman was posting.

:welcome: All this, and more, is in the manual too.....

#4 Unlock all doors - the trick is to push the door handle button twice quickly to unlock first the driver then all doors. If you do it slowly you end up unlocking then locking again

Many thanks! Between the bunch of you, you gave me exactly the answers I needed. Much appreciated...

That's what these forums are here for, Hal! We learn and then we teach others what we've learned. :)
