  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all. Brand new here, but very used to being a part of forums for help with different vehicles. I just bought a wrecked 2010 Genesis 4.6 with all options and I need some help making sure I get the right parts. I have read a ton of threads here already, so I have some knowledge about the car but it's still pretty confusing!

First off - headlights. The car is equipped with AFLS, so I'll need the headlights with HIDs and with AFLS. From what I've read, there are black/smoked versions and standard chrome as well? Will the 2012 lights that have the LED bar work on the 2010? Pretty sure I read that on a thread somewhere but I wanna double check because the ones I saw were Prada LED lights and I can't drop $1.6k on headlights at the moment.

Next - painted grille. I know I can get the grille painted from koreanautoimports.com for $195, but is it hard to paint it yourself?

I would also like to add the heated steering wheel and the heated rear seats kit - has anyone installed either of these before?

Also, any other recommendations/tweaks are welcome. :) I'll definitely have more questions or ideas along the way.

Hey Zach, why not ask someone to do the work as well. ???'s
If you are in the Trade the venture is hard work but reasonably easy.. Or are you a fly by night guy looking to rebuild & sell On?
Pop into a customizing store and ask them! I'm sure they will help you..

Heated rear seats could be an expensive add on. You need the wiring harness and fuse block and maybe different alternator etc, etc. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses thus far. WowCool, my father owns the body shop that is repairing this vehicle, but since it will be my own Genesis, I am looking for the parts myself to make sure I can get them for the least amount possible.

Homeofstone, this link shows the kit I found - http://koreanautoimports.com/genesis-sedan-backseat-seat-heater-kit-w-controls-modules-wirin/

Are those OEM parts that are bundled together in a kit, or is this a generic aftermarket kit? We have 2 other vehicles with heated rear seats and would like to make sure this Genesis has them as well.

Also, was there ever any solution found for the Prada LED headlamps not working correctly with AFLS?

the switches in the link are aftermarket. The OEM switches/console are intergraded into rear pull down armrest in the R-spec sedan.

Remember you are working with a car with a lot of computer modules that may have issues if the amps change when the rear seat heaters are on unless you address that at installation.

Not sure if you already know this, but the USA version of the Genesis is not the same as the KDM (Korean Domestic Market) version. In some cases, people want the KDM version of the parts, such as wings instead of H logo on various locations of the car. In addition, there was a Prada version sold outside the USA.

The 2009-2011 headlights and taillights are different than the 2012+, not just in cosmetics, but also a slight, but noticeable, size difference. You might be able to fit a 2012+ one on a 2009-2011 sedan, but it will not fit exactly flush with the sheet metal (there are other threads that discuss this in detail with pics).

If you want to see what parts have changed from one model year to the next, you can usually tell by looking at website that sells Hyundai OEM USA parts, such as www.newhyundaiparts.com. This site is run by a Hyundai dealer (Hilton Head Hyundai in SC) and you call their parts department for more info on whether the part numbers are the same from one year to the next if you can't tell by looking at their website. There are also several other similar websites run by Hyundai dealers.

So were the guys who installed KDM "Prada" headlights from the US or not? I'd just like to know if they'd work on my US Genesis and if it's true or not that the AFLS does not work with them. I emailed KAI and they responded with a nice detailed response saying one guy had an issue with his and reported that the Prada LED headlights do not work with our cars if you have AFLS, yet KAI told me they received lots of feedback saying that it does work just fine, and that the guy was merely misinformed and most likely had a different issue.

I will skip the rear heated seats for now until I can further investigate that mess. Thanks for the info homeofstone.

Mark_888, I did see those threads. From what I could tell, the tails work and fit just fine except they stick out just a bit over the bumper, but nothing you can tell without looking up close. It wouldn't bother me, at least. But unfortunately my Genesis does not need new tail lights at the moment.

My main issue right now are the headlights. I am really wanting the Prada ones but may not be able to justify it yet - we'll see. For now, I need help finding the right ones for my car. I have looked on eBay, and there are a great number of Genesis 2009-2013 headlights, but only 2 or 3 actually say they support AFLS. All others don't say it (and yet might support it), but the seller usually has no idea what I'm talking about.

So, if anyone has some part numbers that identify these, I would be very grateful (I would not mind the 2012 style lights):

2009-2011 Genesis Sedan Headlamps w/HID and w/AFLS
2012-2013 Genesis Sedan Headlamps w/HID and w/AFLS

That or just something to help me identify which lights are correct. Is it possible that all Genesis sedan headlamps with HIDs are equipped with AFLS and the differentiating factor between equipped cars and unequipped is something else? On Hyundai parts websites, I only see headlamps with HIDs, or headlamps without. None that say w/HID and w/AFLS.

Also, thanks Mark for referencing those websites, I am usually great about navigating those but the Hyundai ones have been confusing me. I am all new to this brand, I come from a family of Cadillacs (as well as other GM vehicles) and Chryslers.

Also, the Prada grille - what differentiates it from a standard Genesis sedan grille? I am highly interested in the body-matched accents and chrome instead of the standard silver and chrome grille. Just not sure if the body-matched grille is a custom thing or if that is the Prada grille.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

And I suggest you read my posts more thoroughly. I know the Prada model is not available here. Which is exactly why I asked if those who installed Prada parts and posted here about it are from the US or not, that way I'd know if these non-US spec headlights do work on US cars. Some posts I saw with finished results were by members not from the US and their cars could be wired differently to accept Korean-model parts, whereas ours could not be, and that was all I was wondering. I also wanted to know if these lights do or do not work with AFLS as I'm finding mixed answers everywhere.

Good luck trying to turn a '10 Genesis wreck into a Prada.

Shouldn't be too hard considering the grille and wheels are a direct replacement, and it seems people are mostly getting the headlamps to work. Oh and the fact that those are the only 3 things from the Prada I'm remotely interested in (again it just takes a second to read the thread). :)

Please post some pics if you are able to get things done so we can all see the fruits of your labours. Before and after would be nice if possible.
Thanks
