  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1. Does the head unit still "black out" occasionally.

2. Does the surround sound still switch off after mode changes.

Just wondering if Hyundai has addressed these wide-spread problems in newer models.

I have had my 2013 R-Spec for a week now and I have not experienced any of these things you are asking about. I have really been switching modes too (Playing)

I have only experienced interference on all modes (only twice) - that has been the only issue so far.

Lost all sound once in the 2013 Equus. It came back after turning engine off for a couple of minutes and restarting. It happened several times with the 2009 Genesis.

I have never been alarmed by this problem. There must be a bunch of computers in these cars. Have you ever had a computer that didn't have to be rebooted on occasion?

I have had to replace all of the computers in the 1996 BMW 850 ci.

Not one problem with my 2013 in any regard (knock on wood).

about once a month nav screen will reboot. one time no audio but that was cured with pulling the memory fuse briefly.

I think it would get confused and reboot if doing too many things at the same time: start car, look for ipod, "agree" to not use the system while driving, switch to back up camera all concurrently, that would spazz it out. so I now turn off the audio and hit home button before parking and then do the other stuff in turn sequentially :)

I know I am not a 2013 owner. However as a statistical control, I have not had either of those symptoms occur in my 2012 with Technology Package.

I haven't noted those problems with my 2013 Genesis, built in late December, 2012.

I've had my 2013 for about 5 weeks and none of these issues have occurred.

It's been perfect, (except for as yet unresolved issues with Bluelink which render it almost unusable)

I am not sure if everyone realizes, but this item is was not a defect, but a "feature" of earlier audio systems:
2. Does the surround sound still switch off after mode changes.

Also, I think it only applies to Tech Package audio, where the surround sound mode goes to a default each time the car is started, and does not remember the last surround sound mode selected when the car was turned off.

Very late build (March) 2013 V6 with every option, and no issues.

I've had my 2013 R-Spec for about 4 months now and I have not experienced any of these things you are asking about. On the other hand, I don't drive much but have done a lot of mode changes (mostly between USB & XM) when I drive.

09 here with freshly updated Amp. I have not had these problems since my amp was re-programmed in 2013. In 2012, I had some problems with no audio and no voice commands. 2013 reflash fixed them all...as a control again.

I've had my 2013 R-Spec for a little over 2 months and have not noticed any of those problems.
