  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After my second highway trip, I learned a couple things some of you may not know yet:

*. When on map screen or during Nav mode, press down on knob for live traffic menu option. Clicking it brings up any reports within distance of 100 miles. Clicking any of the occurrences puts up the GPS map of the event! This was cool.

* advanced cruise should be called Super Advanced Cruise. Today, I was impressed how seamlessly the car sped up & slowed down on the freeway, through construction zones with traffic, and maintained preferred distance. Once when a car darted infront of me, brakes engaged..... And due to severity of auto braking, the system beeped to alert me. I almost hit the brakes, but waited to learn the Genesis applied harder & harder bringing car to safe speed & distance. Nice to know it works.

*. Also, with cruise active, the Genisis must have a "G" sensor. Taking a couple sweeping off ramps at 80mph, the cruise control allows cad to slowly decrease, if not coast, to complete turn before resuming back up to 80mph. Cool stuff.

(For any nannies out there, I am a 20yr high performance driving instructor on closed course race tracks around the country)

I got the advanced cruise turned on but I can't turn it off? I turn on regular cruise the advanced comes on too. I've everything in the book. Nothing turns it off. Can anyone help?

I had the same question and tried to find out if there was a way to turn advanced cruise off. But I found nothing in the manual that lets me do that. I've come to think of it as turning the advanced cruise on/off when I hit the cruise switch. I can accomplish the functional equivalent of turning the advanced cruise off by selecting one car length as the interval. That might not work for you, however, if you drive within 10 feet of the car ahead on the interstate.

Its just weird that you can turn it on for the first time but you can never turn it off. Somebody must have an answer.

If you have the package with advanced cruise control, you don't have an option to use a standard cruise. It's advanced or nothing. Sorry.

I too am impressed with the adaptive cruise control - very effective with urban freeway driving (I-405 and I-5 in OC and LA). However, I left I-405 on a downhill off-ramp and the car started accelerating up to the set cruise speed. It seems it doesn't look downwards!

Hey guys, my best answer is:
It should be called Advanced Super Cruise ON:p

As for downward? Not clear on your point? If cruise was set for 80, it will accelerate to 80 regardless of hill. Now, if there is a wall, the lasers will eventually see it and start stopping the car. As in your case, if going downhill and nothing is in the way, the car will achieve your desired speed.

My use of the advanced cruise has only been on long distance trips. If you are in a hurry or in 5 o clock traffic, it's not going to do you any favors. But, when life is great and you have your Lexicon or XM to keep you happy, the advanced cruise is wonderful.

My point was really to remember to cancel cruise when leaving the freeway. I got so used to it doing the acceleration and deceleration for me, it took me by surprise when it started accelerating down the offramp! LOL! Won't forget that again! ;)

I was wondering about the live traffic. I couldn't get an answer on how that sucker worked.

Garddod32 original post is correct. You either have advanced or you do not. There is no way to turn off the advanced or active mode. Bringing the car in front of you in a little closer works best for me. The advanced is an awesome system if you will take some time and learn it's pro's and con's.
