  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

R-Spec 5.0 TUNE opportunity BTRcc

I have been subbed to this thread forever and it doesn't appear the two companies mentioned here are going to do anything. ARK performance built a highly-modded Genesis sedan and brought it to SEMA this year. Everything I want is done to that car...so I emailed them this morning and inquired about their plans for moving forward with this product line. I mentioned this thread as well.

Here is the link to their site: http://www.arkperformanceusa.com/ark_01_aboutark.php

Here is just one article on the mods: http://wot.motortrend.com/1410_supercharged_2015_hyundai_genesis_sedan_5_0l_heads_to_sema.html

and here is the link to ARK's email: info@arkperformanceusa.com

Contact them! Flood that inbox with requests! Maybe we'll get some traction.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Ark has a storied history of bringing non-functional vehicles to SEMA and here is why:

- A car with a fancy body kit and reports fantastical horsepower through forced induction gets a lot more press than just a car with a fancy body kit.

ARK in turn uses all of this hype to sell body kits molded from their SEMA vehicles. As was the case with both the CFX and Legato Genesis Coupes, as well as their SEMA Veloster.

When asked to open the hood, or even start, of one of their "supercharged" Genesis Coupes at SEMA, they continually refused requests.

Best bet is to contact Bill Wolf at BTR, more importantly, a 4.6 or 5.0 near Arlington Heights, IL to donate their car for them to develop a canned tune. They already do one for the 3.8 Sedan.

Oh yeah, of course it is!

I'm just curious haw really fast those cars are. ;)

btw.
I though they were limited to 150? ....still didn't get a chance to run and beat 140. Oh well, maybe it will never happen, who knows

Dareck,
My 2013 has had 149 showing. I have a great rural 2 lane to test on. Between nothing but cow pastures. No homes and laser straight. My only worry with tuning would be aerodynamic. above 150 we might really need spoilers to keep the rear end down. I was impressed with how well the car felt at that speed. Seems well planted but I have done motorcycles on the salt flats and they can be doing great and a very small upset will throw them into the air. Google Mazda salt flats blowover. The early RX-7s had too little downforce in the rear. They got really exciting at speed. I would be most interested in the Transmission tuning also. I have enough HP, but a bit more never hurts:D

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You talking about the sedan or the coupe?

Technically both. They are doing a tuning event with GenSport Carolinas at RPM Motorsports in Garner, NC on Feb 7th and 8th. They are flying in their guy from Korea. When asked if they could do a 4.6 Sedan, they said he could do a 3.8 Sedan.

My only concern is ......the hood! I don't know if you noticed, but the hood starts "flapping" at 120+mph, scared the sh*t out of me, first time I drove her that fast!

I won't be attempting any high speed tests until ~April, I'm on a winter shoes. After that, I'll be getting new tyres - Michelin Pilot Super Sport or ....... a new bimmer :D

Not that i wouldnt like more HP, but i would be happier if they could program the transmission so it could shift a bit more aggressively when you stomp the go pedal.

Only 3.8 and 4.6 were tuned at the event. Some asked Dan about the 5.0 tune but it still hasn't been cracked. 84FordMan may be able to add more information to this.

According to Sam, the ECU has been cracked, they can manipulate fuel and ignition tables, but the manufacturer or series of the ECU used in the BH/DH 5.0 is different than the BH 3.8/4.6 and BK 2.0T/3.8. Different in the way that it will not accept a flash through the BDM port, pretty much leaving them the only other obvious path of the old school chip method, soldering a flashable chip into the ECU and integrating it.

This is, obviously, not very cost effective, especially considering how the 3.8/4.6 canned tune pricing was originally received here.

Sam and the crew have not given up, they are trying unconventional alternatives to try to provide the most cost effective solution to their customers.

That's some positive news in the right direction at least!

It is still a long shot but I am still hopeful that my investment in that R&D ECU will pay off one of these days for both 1G and 2G owners...

My question is what horsepower gains are we expecting to really see with an ECU tune on the 4.6? I know I was doing both cat deletes and remove/redo the o2 sensors plus a Cai. Has anyone else tuned their car and been able to dyno it?

Im in. Also need other HP ideas guys. This is day 1 of my 5.0 RSpec.

There isn't a lot on the market for these cars. R2C makes a warm air intake but currently, no one makes a "cold" air intake.

Have not seena throttle body spacer.

Borla and Flowmaster make exhaust systems for the car. However, a lot of us have been doing custom exhausts to fine tune the exhaust note to our individual liking. I personally have Dynomax VT mufflers, Dynomax resonators, MSA X-Pipe, MSA Cat deletes, and then custom piping. I love the way my exhaust sounds and it turns a lot of heads.

Headers are not available at the moment from anyone beyond flowmasters OEM replacements that do not offer any HP or flow improvements.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, there isn't a whole lot of options for the RSpec. For the most part, you either scoop up what is available or you go custom.

Yeah, its appearing that way. I think after a 2 weeks of driving, Im bring it back for a 2010 M6 now instead. Better starting project car.

Thx though and good luck.

have you considered modding the heat shield to attach the stock cold air intake from behing the passenger intake?

I'm in. Improving throttle response and transmission shifting would be worth the tune.

Its pretty much a waiting game ha. I've been waiting for the day they put up the 5.0 on a tuning event forever, let alone come to Cali !
