  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

R-Spec showing up on a dealer's website

I promise. This forum has been a huge help in deciding upon, planning for and purchasing a Gene. And I will try to express my thanks to everyone by posting copious reviews and pictures. My car is still at the dock and is slated for delivery to my house (2k miles from the dealership) about the middle of August. Therefore I probably won't have the very first reviews.

Cheers,
Newman

don't sell yourself short, you may have the first real world reviews.. the acceleration video with no radio on and windows down is what i'm dying to see... keep us informed.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'd hate to say I'm going to beat Newman to it, but I sure hope that I do! The dealer confirmed today that it still expects it by Tuesday. Some good news to back that up: they said last week they'd have 3 new 3.8s in today - and they're now on the dealer's website. They seem to have some idea of what's coming in and when to expect it.

I'll have a 3.5 hour drive from the dealership to home in order to break it in. I should have some idea of how it drives at that point.

Just got a call from a dealer... R-Spec is rolling in next week and I will be testing her out and maybe driving it home. I will keep yall posted. :D:D

I test drove an R-Spec this evening. They showed up at two dealerships in South Florida this afternoon. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when I went on my test drive. The white protective wrapping was still on the hood. Even though it was pouring rain, the car is sweet.

I went armed to the dealership with a print out of Fitzmall's offered price and a Hyundai Circle Certificate (but I must clarify that the Certificate was for a dealer about 100 miles away as it was the only care showing up on the Circle web page as available. Both South Florida dealers refused to come anywhere close to the Fitzmall price, much less match it (even though one dealer's website said they will beat any legitimate offer by $500).

One dealer refused to even give me a price, in light of the prices I was showing them. The other dealer gave me a price in the mid $47,000 range (which amounted to about $4,000 more than the Circle Certificate price). The dealer initially told me the Circe Certificate price would be my price. The then started to question whether they could honor the price because it was for a car from another dealer. They made me go through a bunch of hoops - even calling the Hyundai Circle toll free number (I had to leave a message and have not heard back from the program yet). Eventually, the second dealer told me that their GM said he would not honor the Circle Certificate for a R-Spec. I walked out. To say I am disappointed is a huge understatement.

I would go to the dealer 100 miles away except that I do not want Platinum, I want Black. Plus, at this point I have doubts as to whether he will honor the Circle Certificate.

unbelievable. i would call them on Monday and request a meeting with their dealer principal. them not honoring the "$500 better" thing is huge if they're advertising as such. i don't think the owner would appreciate their sales people doing that.

What south Florida dealerships did you visit? This seems to be the standard with some dealers. I dealt with two that said they would beat Fitzmall in Clearwater.
In fact-Napleton WPB's ad says it will beat any legitimate deal by $2900. How do they expect to beat anyone by that amount? I didn't even expect that because I knew it was bs. They said they would beat Fitz by $500 but in the end-they could-or would- only come as close as $1600 from Fitz.
I bought at Coconut Creek because they agreed to meet Fitz' price. But they also had 60 Genesis sedans in stock- 6 exactly like my specs.

The first dealer who would not even quote me a price was King Hyundai in Deerfield Beach. The second dealer was Rick Case Hyundai in Weston/Davie. This experience makes me wonder whether I shouldn't just move on to another manufacturer.

i don't think it has anything to do with that but do what you will. Salesman are a different race than human beings (most that is)and there will be salesman at the next car dealership you go to. Only real way to avoid this is shopping ridiculous high end vehicles so prepare to pay big $$$$ (having said that just try a couple more hyundai dealers at the recommendation of other members here)

Test drove and purchased a Titanium R-Spec this afternoon just north of Atlanta, GA. :D

Thanks to everyone on this forum who have provided great information and advice. I'll be sure to return the favor and answer any questions and give my opinions being a first timer Hyundai owner. (Been driving an Acura TL-S for the past 10 years and almost purchased a 2012 TL SH-AWD until I heard about the R-Spec) After the test drive and seeing it in person, I was sold!

The dealership threw in re-badging the trunk and rims for free but I've got to be patient this weekend since they are out of "wings" and I don't want to bring it home until they're complete (ETA Tuesday).

Thanks again guys!

Congrats!! imnd telling us what they got you for??

i don't know how you're doing it lol. i would've NEVER been able to leave my new R Spec there. i'd hve nightmares of picking the car up and seeing like 65 miles on it or something.

i just noticed Fitzmall adjusted their internet price for the R spec?? I guess the "Jig is up" huh?

Are those Equus in the background? What year?

I used the USAA buying service, so it was $100 over dealer invoice (roughly $3k off of MSRP) It came with the upgraded Bridgestone summer tires and Ipod cable.

I recorded the mileage and the dealer promised they would "hide" the car. I'm swinging by this morning to make sure they did and because I live only 4 miles from the dealership, I'll probably keep on checking.

The car came off the truck around 11:30AM yesterday and by 3:30PM when I arrived for a test drive, the dealer staff had already put 42 miles on it. Its their first R, so they're just as excited as we are.

Yes, there a two 2011 Equus in the background. Both the salesman and I agreed that the minor stlying mods and sporty rims on the 2012 Genny R give it an edge over the Equus in terms of looks from the side profile.

Another update on my efforts to purchase a new R-Spec. I just called King Hyundai in Deerfield Beach and told them that I have in-hand a Hyundai Circle Customer Certificate for their dealership and their car. King is refusing to honor the Certificate. For the first time, I learned what they want for the car -- full boat, $48,785.00! That price is more than $5,000 higher than my Certificate price. I am very frustrated to say the least.

Move on man..... Let the dealer sit on it for awhile. Then when they get real hungry then they will discount it or let someone else get ripped off.

Youre already in love with the car. Fall in love with the deal. You'll be alot happier in the long run.

Seattle Genesis

Seattle Genesis, you are correct in that I do love the car but I will not pay anywhere near what they are asking for it. Either the dealers come down in price or it is time for me to move on to another car.

Believe me- I would never side with a dealer or salesman but we still have to remember that this is a new item that just hit the market with a limited supply. It's not like there's a dozen sitting on their lot-if there even is one-it's sitting on the showroom floor!
My last three cars were VW tdi diesels and only one of them was I able to get at less than MSRP. That was because we here in south Florida had just taken a hit by a hurricane. When I purchased (ordered) that car- the dealership was a "ghost town" and they were glad to get any sale. In fact- my salesman said business was so slow- he probably wouldn't still be working there when the car comes in.
I guess the jest of it all is "supply and demand." As a dealer- I'm not going to give something away if I'm only going to get a few of them. As the VW salesman said- if you don't buy it- the next guy will! So I guess you just gotta figure what your break point is.

true, just hold out..

And as for you metalav8b. just some friendly advice, if those wings aren't there by Tuesday take the car.. nothing good can come from it sitting there. you have to realize no matter what they do, if ANYONE knows that car exists there salesman will be showing them your car. I would take that car Monday when the doors open lol.. not trying to stir sh*t, just trying to look out for a fellow member, when i was younger i worked for multiple new car dealers for years in service and parts and salesman are just NOT to be trusted no matter what. if the owner wants to take the car for a ride he will do it, etc.

New cars are NOTHING to them.. NOTHING. they come and go hundred or more a month. yet that one car will be alot to you (like the most expensive item you will purchase besides your home and will only depreciate daily lol)
