i was wondering the same thing since it stated 364 or something hp instead of 400

^Agreed. I figured the G70 would be faster but not by a car length. It could quite possibly be the quickest production Hyundai/Genesis made. I'd like to see it go against a 5.0 R-Spec.

I think it will be close, but I believe the G70 will win due to the lower-end torque.

The G70 and Kia Stinger do share the same engine and transmission but the G70 is lighter. Considering the Stinger does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds (see it all here), and the G70 is faster - this will easily be Hyundai/Genesis' fastest production car ever.

Living along the Northeast I-95 corridor where we all sit still or crawl along the interstates I'm always amused about 0-60 MPH bragging rights. Of course, I'm 69 now, and when I was young I wouldn't drive anything without at least 425 CID V8's and 4 Barrel Quardrajet carbs. At this stage 2 litre turbo 4 cyl engines seem the choice for me. But that's why the manufacturers offer choice -- at least for now.

I can't wait until it comes stateside and see what numbers they're able to unleash for this thing. I wish they could make a G70 with the G80 Sport lower fascia/nose (personal preference).

The future "choice" will be 2WD or AWD all electrics getting closer and closer to autonomous driving with each new model. Eventually we'll all be paying an insurance premium if we drive our own cars.

Not really a valid comparison as the Q50 is the hybrid, not the Red Sport 400, which is more of a direct competitor for the G70 (both turbocharged V6's of approximately 3+ liters and 365+ HP with reported 0-60 times in the neighborhood of 4.5 seconds). I've been considering the Q50 but think I'll wait for the G70 to show up in US specs. I'm an Infiniti fan but I'm pulling for the G70 and will at least delay a purchase until I can compare them head-to-head, despite that pushing back my planned purchase date by a few months. The G70 has lots of appeal but until the US car's specs and pricing are clarified, it's hard to make direct comparisons.

The Stinger is a larger, heavier car than I prefer but it's pretty impressive in its own right. Lots of nice choices in this segment and by no means are the only credible options coming from Europe. Truth be told, I prefer the Asian options and i say that having owned a couple of BMWs and a couple of Volkswagens. If Genesis gets it right, and they're on the right track, they could kill in this segment.

Just a quick update - Car and Driver did a 4.4 second 0-60 run. And the Stinger recently beat the Mustang GT in 1/4 miles tests in Australia. The G70 is going to be faster. This is pretty great news.

That is good news! When I saw the sped to 100KPH I sort of figured that the speed to 60 MPH should be quicker than what was being discussed. Even if the G70 merely matches the Stinger's 4.4 sec. that would be fantastic. If it can shave off another tenth, that would be even more amazing. From what I've read based on the Korean spec versions of the car, a bit of lag (describes as "not turbo lag" but perhaps the AWD taking a moment to engage) seems to be an issue. If they're getting to 60 in 4.4 seconds in the Stinger, then that lag doesn't seem to be hurting them. If they can dial it out, that might shave off another tenth.

I have high expectations for the G70 once it hits our shores. I hope I'm not disappointed. If it's as good as it seems it will be and if the prices aren't through the roof, it could really establish the Genesis brand in the US. Let's hope.

The Stinger 0-60 time was accomplished with launch control not functioning. I suspect a fully functioning LC could knock that tenth or two off for ya by itself. Add the weight reduction for the G70 vs. the Stinger and it might be even lower.

I think I am much more impressed by the 30-50 acceleration number for the Stinger GT. That is M3, C63 S, ATS-V, etc. territory with the 2.5 second time.

Yeah, that's often ignored. In fact, I rarely know the 30-50 time for cars but usually have checked the 0-60 time. In real-world driving, the 30-50 passing time is actually a lot more relevant. Do you know what the times are for the other cars mentioned? Again, we may expect times that are a bit quicker in the G70 than the Stinger. Added weight usually has a noticeable impact in that speed range.

I do (I will throw in the highest performing Infiniti model for reference as well):

M3 (DCT) 2.3
C63 S (7A) 2.4
ATS-V (8A) 2.4
Q50 RS400 (7A) 3.2

I would expect the lighter G70 to at least match the Stinger GT and quite possibly tie some of the M, AMG, etc. models from 30-50. The Stinger beats the RS400 by almost a second.

Yes, that 30-50 acceleration area is a very useful spot in normal driving. The G70 has more power than the Stinger and is lighter. Unless geared differently, I think we'll see a match with the M3.
