  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wanted to see if anyone else experiences what may be described as intermittent hisses, hum or background buzzing sound while listening to their radio? It's more noticeable when listening to AM radio, but also happens when USB or CD is playing (noticeable between breaks in the songs). Other times it will play with no issue; however it's very annoying when it occurs.

Tried to search for other posts on this but could not find anything specifically.

Appreciate any assistance / recommendations.

V6 Premium Package

I'm getting this in my 2010 V6 Premium Pakage too. But it's a constant buzzing/tone that sounds like a tone in a hearing test. My local dealer has ordered a new amp that should be in next week. I hope that fixes it. What happened with yours?

The new AMP didn't fix the problem and now they've ordered a new head unit. They'll be putting the new head unit in next week. I'll updated this thread with the results.

A previous thread concerned certain noises in the audio system related to the rear defroster: when the rear window defroster was ON the audio system had issues. Any chance your sometimes-there-sometimes-not interference is related to rear defroster use? The AM/FM antenna is part of the rear window wire grid...

Otherwise, when you get your new head unit, check out a few things before accepting delivery:
1: verify the bluetooth works with whatever phone you have - or at least that it works as well as it did before.

2: verify the navigation system is working correctly. See if roads in Alabama exist. (seriously - another thread exists in the Equus part of this website where Alabama roads disappeared from the nav database after a Tech package repair).

3: test/verify voice recognition works the way it used to, assuming the Premium package has voice recognition. I don't remember what each package includes... and how the various packages changed from year to year.

Basically, verify that what used to work still works the same way. Some of the "update" software releases have changed the system behavior and introduced new problems or oddball characteristics. You may find these more objectionable than your original unit's noise problems! As an example, many folks with the Tech package gripe that, after a major software update (operating software plus nav database) the system now turns itself ON when they start the engine if a USB memory stick is plugged in! And it auto-selects the USB stick regardless of what they were using (AM/FM/DVD/etc) when the audio system was last shut off or the car was last shut off. My 2009 Tech, which hasn't been updated at all, does NOT exhibit that goofy characteristic fortunately. I actually have to manually turn my stereo ON after starting the car... and it "remembers" what I was listening to last time rather than defaulting to the USB memory stick. Which is how it's supposed to work; and how the owner's manual says it should work.

I'm happy to report the new head unit fixed the buzz and didn't introduce any news issues I could find. Before accepting the car I verified I was able to:

  1. listen to all music sources without the buss (I even checked with the rear defroster on/off since you mentioned it)
  2. pair my phone and make a call using voice recognition
  3. find Alabama in the navigation

Thanks for the warnings!

i have a buzzing noise that i have narrowed down to the aux port in the center console. they have replaced that but have not elimuinated the buzzing it is currently still in the shop. i seem to notice it in the above 20 volumes and in lows of my music

I have had this issue too, seems to be my hyundai cable but does it after so many months of usage. I'm on my third cable now! Buzz gone yet again but doubt it will last long until it starts.

Also keep in mind that your aux cable can get build up on the contacts, I wipe mine down roughly once a month with rubbing alcohol and usually wind up getting a little black junk off each ends of the cable. I also take a swab and wipe the contact on the aux port of the car (car off when doing this and don't over saturate the swab, a little goes a long way). Once again when I do this a little bit of black buildup comes out of the port. Have had zero issues with buzz/pop noises since starting to do this.

I just bought a 2009 and had major distortion. Took it to service, and after a week with my car completely torn apart, they are saying that items I just put in my trunk affected the wiring of the rear center speaker, and hence the tweeters in the doors. I think they are going to try and hose me for the costs. Anyone had this be a result from the interference?
