  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a small issue with the radio in my GV80. May be nothing, but I am curious. Radio plays fine, but when the car is turned off it may or may not come back on when the vehicle is started again. Normal?? Several times it comes back on when the start button is pushed and many times it is off and I have to get into the menu to manually turn it on. I have gone through all the settings I can find, but nothing really addresses the issue that I can see. It's not a big deal, but it is a little annoying when it happens. Truth be known, it affects my wife more than me. Anyone else have this issue?

Also, the driver confirmation screen that comes on at startup is pretty annoying also. It does go away once you put vehicle in gear or hit the confirm button. Any way to turn it off?

When it doesn't start back on its own, which audio source are you using? (USB, CarPlay, SXM, FM, AM, ...)

That's really weird. It does sound like a bug or defect.
I've never had a vehicle that does that and it's kinda hit or miss. Usually it's after the vehicle has sat overnight and on first start up when vehicle has been sitting for a few hours.

You may know this and have done it already, but I am pretty sure there is a setting for that. Check to make sure you have selected what you want. I say pretty sure because I would always have to turn the radio on when I got in the car and I went hunting for a setting and I sort of remember finding it. I think I found it because it comes on every time now. And I play my music through Android auto. So as soon as AA connects, the music comes on.

In any case, you don't have to "get into the menu to manually turn it on" There's a button right there, under the screen, that says: "Radio" :)

Thanks. I went thru everything I could find in the settings. The only thing I found was the max sound at startup. It was off, but now on. I'll see if that changes anything.

This is why I (perhaps incorrectly) assumed that he meant it was losing his input selection, so he had to go set it again, not just that it wasn't powering back up.

Hmmm.... I don't drive it that much. I'll look and that would certainly be easier. Vehicle has so many buttons and bells, I can't keep up with them. LOL...

If it's just that it does not turn on itself, I think that you are looking for a selection under general settings that says something like "Radio/Media off at vehicle startup."

21 G90, turns off every time. Also, confirmation screen pops up every time as well. Only control is if I want the radio to turn off when I shut off car or wait until I open door. But that only stays on for a few minutes.

You misunderstood me, Please see my next post. I found what I was looking for.

Found it. Under Setup/General/Media options/ you will find what I was talking about. See if the first box is checked or not.

Also if you push in on the volume up down wheel on the console it turns the media off or on.

Thank you. I didn't come across it there, as I never thought to look in the setup. I went thru all the radio sections to no avail, but I am going to go look for it tonight or early tomorrow. Thanks again.

Well, I couldn't stand waiting till tomorrow (or today now). The radio/media button was unchecked. Will give it a few days and see if it still shuts the radio off automatically.

Well, so far so good today. I have driven the vehicle several times today and the radio has come on each and every time I fire it up, including cold start up. I didn't do anything to it. I wonder if it powers off when a different driver gets in? My wife and I drive under the same profile and the only thing that changes is her (or I) hitting the auto seat adjust button to get the seat where we need it. Didn't really see the need to set up two different profiles in the car.

I never set up a different profile of the GV80 either. I don't think my wife has even driven it. One thing I miss about my Audi is that each key fob would tell the car who was getting in it. I think my wifes BMW is the same way as when I unlock the door with my Fob, the seat moves, but it still asks me who is driving it.

Ok, so I condede. It continues to turn off and sometimes does not start back up when the start button is pushed. It's not that big of a deal now, since you guys reminded me that the volume button on the console turns it on and off. Crisis averted as the wife is ok with that solution as well.
Thanks for all the input.
