In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum.

I just had my radio head unit replaced, and picked up the car after the swap.
My original issues were:
1. Radio was locking up – had to press reset to fix
2. Very poor Voice recognition (worse than normal)
3. On FM Radio would show HD1 on NAV screen, but HD2 in dash cluster.

Radio was swapped. OK, so now so far no freeze ups. VR still pretty bad, perhaps a touch better, but now I have these issues:
1. Dual lines on backup camera
2. No top down view
Dealer tried to reset to correct these issues, and while they could correct the issue temporarily, the issues returned almost immediately
3. Lost all of my apps – I really only care about Sound Hound. Cannot download again. The only app that shows up is the geo-fence/valet/speed alert app

The dealer is saying that they have to order another replacement unit.

I read some posts regarding the dual lines, but I could only find one solved, and that seems to be a user that actually got a different car.

If anyone has any experience with any of these issues being resolved, please post your experience. I am most interested in the backup camera issues.

I have the exact same issue. My dealer is working on a resolution. They are contacting the senior technician at another dealership who has fixed this problem. Hopefully, I will have an answer next week. I will try to get detailed information.

I also plan to pass the resolution to a senior person at Hyundai in the hopes of getting a service bulliten for this issue.

Can you check your PMs? I'd like to get my case started with Hyundai, and I'd like to find out some more specifics of your original issue(s)

Thanks!

Guys, for the benefit of the community, I hope you make all the details of the problem and any fix available to the public forum.

I absolutely will! The PM was due to me providing my email to address a couple of specifics. I will post what I find in any event. I'd also like responses regarding any of the issues outlined in my OP.

I will keep everyone updated as I get more information. I hope to have more information by the end of next week. I have worked some with Hyundai corporate on this and I think I willl get this resolved.

I recommend waiting a week to see the outcome before you pursue anything else.

Isn't there a TSB about the Ultimate/DIS system rendering double lines when reversing? I swear I've seen instructions on how to fix it straight from Hyundai. Just need to go into some debug menu and change some options. I'll see if I can find it..

While I'm fairly new here and am still in the fire hose learning mode by mostly reading and learning I did want to just jump in and second the recommendation for those having issues addressed to make sure they fully document everything here in this forum. With the level of complexity of these vehicles now days it is IMO imperative that solutions/resolution attempts to various issue such as the one in this thread is again IMO critical to current and future owners.

Threads such as these and the documentation they provide to those that follow these ground breakers will be indispensible to those in the future.

Thanks and back to more fire hose drinking and learning ....

Thanks! My dealer has ordered a replacement head unit, but it's on back order, so I suspect that it will be a couple of weeks until it shows up.

A poster above was kind enough to post a link to the procedure for the DIS unit. My unit is AVN 4.5, but I'd guess that there is a similar procedure.

What my service manager is saying is, that they can set the lines, but they revert back to double lines after a short time. Not sure how long. They seem to have the procedure, but it's not working.

I will post back when I have more information.

I had the identical problem with my “replaced” radio unit in December of 2014. Two new radios were installed with the same problem and the dealer finally took a radio out of a new car on the lot to resolve this issue.

I have been reading about this issue since then and know that it is a software setup issue with the radio. ALL replacement radios initially come with the double back-up lines and no top view. They need to be “set-up” to work properly. It takes a Hyundai technical expert to correct the problem. :)

I think this will solve my problem. i will let you know next week.

My ultimate radio is fixed. The TSB posted on this site (number 14-90-017) was helpful, but not the complete answer for US customers. The TSB was for Canadian vehicles. The repair is similar for US vehicles, but not identical. The tech support line talked my dealer through about 7 changes in the engineering mode on my radio. I do not have the step by step details since they were not written down. I will email the technical case number to anyone who needs it. This specifically relates to my vehicle, but all US ultimate vehicles should be the same.

I am not sure why Hyundai doesn't have a US TSB for this problem.

One question: are the gridlines on the Ultimate red and yellow or red, yellow, and green? Mine is only showing red and yellow after today. I thought there was initially a green section as well.

Had Tech support walked them through this before?
In my case the dealer says they did that, but could not clear the lines. I wonder if I should open a case before they just put another radio in my car.
(My unit is AVN 4.5, not the DIS)

Ultimate gridlines are only supposed to be yellow/red.

They will likely have the same problem with the new radio since the radio needs to be programmed. I emailed hyundai corporate and recommended that they come out with a US TSB for this.

Good info. I'll pass it on to my dealer, and post the solve once it's done.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Here is an update on the dual line issue. My dealer ordered a new radio, but it still had not come in yet.

Today, I was able to take the Canadian DIS TSB to my dealer, and I also relayed the info from lobsenza's case. At first the guy at the service desk said " If Hyundai tells us to replace the radio, that what we need to do next". I had dealt with the service manager previously,(Jeff at Rosen Hyundai), so I waited about 30 minutes until he started.

I was able to give all of the info to Jeff, who also expressed a bit of frustration with Hyundai. If I understand correctly, they plug into your car, and follow instructions that show up on their system. Jeff asked if I could wait while he called in to discuss the issue. I was able to do so, and about 30 minutes later I was back to single lines.

The Key was having the Canadian TSB for the DIS unit. While my unit was AVN, (not DIS) once the TSB was called out to Hyundai Tech Support, they were able to walk the dealer through the programming procedure to fix the issue on my AVN system.

Again, a big thanks to the forum member who posted the Canadian TSB, and user lobsenza who was able to get this info to Hyundai and have them re-look at the problem.

It would be nice if they would just publish a TSB on this issue. My dealer indicated that radio swap out is easy, but the programming is a big PITA!

Thanks again!

Awesome! Glad the Canadian TSB helped you out in the end. Very strange that there's no equivalent TSB for the US/AVN system.

I suggested to Hyundai corporate that they add a US TSB. But, they apparently prefer to get customers and dealers upset by making them reinvent the wheel multiple times. In addition, it is a waste of Hyundai tech support time.

It is a shame that big corporations can't do things that would benefit everyone!!!

Wish I could be more help, but when I head unit got replaced I too had issues with the double lines & no top-down view. A quick trip to the dealer and both were fixed.
