  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

On my 2015 Genesis, I've started to hear a slight rattle and metallic knocking sound when I turn the steering wheel - but it doesn't happen all the time. I'm trying to reproduce the sound each time so I can figure out what exactly is causing it so I can then figure out what it might be. Anyone have any ideas on this one?

I have a similar problem that is when I turn the steering wheel to the left i can hear a rubbing noise coming from inside the steering column. I was hoping it will cure by itself but while the noise level diminished a little bit its still there.

Had similar steering wheel noises as well. Dealer removed horn/airbag pad assembly. Harness wire clip was broken which allowed the wires to move about freely thereby rub against housing when turning the steering wheel. Also there are 4 large springs attached to the airbag/horn assembly. These springs can create noises when the steering wheel is turned. The springs rest upon a metal type housing base. My dealer greased the the area where the springs stand/rest upon(did not grease the springs). Both noise issues were resolved by replacing wire harness and greasing he base/floor where the springs stand on. Easy way to determine if springs are creating noises one can grab the four corners of the horn assembly and move the horn pad up and down and side to side to see if springs are creating noises. Hope this helps.
