Does anyone know if the passenger seat is supposed to make rattle noises when the road gets really bumpy. It's starting to annoy me and I need to really turn up the music to block it out. And I am positive it's the front passenger seat because when I shake it, it makes the noise I hear. Also can someone explain the MPG gauge for me. When I put in gas, it goes at 8 MPG and slowly goes up when I add on the mile to 15 MPG and later goes to 18-20 MPG. I don't think I have ever gotten more then 20 but I haven't been in the freeways for long periods of time. Just wondering if these problems are suppose to be normal or not?

The mpg resets every time you gas up. So yes... it is cumulative (for every tank, individually). I have been getting similar mileage as you because I don't often do highway miles. This is normal.

The passenger seat issue... mine isn't bad. There is a rattle coming from that direction, but I think it's the passenger armrest - I have a rattle on my driver's armrest, and think they are similar. I do see that seat bounce around a lot though... much more so than my last car.

Try the silicone spray :D

MPG is perfectly normal. It resets everytime you fuel up. Obviously, your MPG is going to be low when you accelerate and it keeps going up as you maintain your speed. The Genesis is rated at 18/27 so getting an average of 20 in city is actually pretty good.

Rattle is definitely not normal. If you take your car to your dealership, they'll fix it under warranty. They'll make you duplicate the rattle for them to fix it.

Keep us updated!

Check that the passengers seat belt in properly stowed. If it is not it will knock against the pillar making a unbearable sound.

I've been hearing the same noise. It's specific to when the road is rough. A quick glimpse at the empty passenger seat shows it vibrating wildly. This is the second car with which I've experienced this problem. The only way I've been able to correct it is adjust the seat back to a more upright position. Doing so limits the back and forth vibration. The problem is, when someone sits in the seat, they look like they're being ejected out of windshield. I figured there has to be a better way to correct this.

I actually did go to the dealership to see if they will fix it. The service guy told me the car is supposed to move back and forth to be more comfortable. But I don't think it should be making a noise while it's doing it. I have been hearing it almost every time I drive by myself now. I look every now and then to see and the chair moves an awful lot and I am positive it's making the rattle noise. I kinda get why people really hate rattling noises in their car now, this is starting to annoy the crap out of me. I really want to record the chair moving and making the noise, but I don't want to be a hazard on the road. I might try another Hyundai dealership but the one I go is really close where I don't need a loaner. Can I get a loaner if I request one?

Have you checked the seat mounting bolts? It's very easy. There are four of them.

how accurate the computer on Genesis? I'm getting readings for 24MPG for city/suburb commuting and up to 31.4MPG (usually 28MPG) for a highway.

Damn, I am glad I am not the only one with this annoying rattling sound. I notice my passenger seat shakes a bit, but when I hold the seat, the noise still occurs. I try to reach over to the door, however considring it is not safe to do so when driving, I limit it to when I am on an empty road. I have also tried the seat belt positioning, but the rattle still occurs. I wonder if there may be something loose inside the passenger door. It isn't bad enough to make a direct trip to dealer, but I will bring it up at my first service.

Averaging 20.6 the last 3 tanks of gas, 50/ 50 hwy and cty driving. I get 22-23 on the highway portion of my trip, then the Miami traffic kills the average and drops me to the 19.6 - 20.5 range (Driving a 4.6 Titanium Grey w/ Black interior 35% tint on sides, 18% on rear window).

I get about 10-15% lower miles per gallon than the car computer says. I
trust the miles divided by the gallons to fill up the tank more than I do the
car computer. I live in a small town so very little "city" driving (and no traffic), so most miles is 15-20 heading to shop in a larger city. I've never gotten any MPG lower than 24 (7 months of ownership).

I have not noticed any rattle from the passenger seat, but will listen carefully.
So far it's the best car I've ever owned.

I'm a platinum tech with Jim hudson in sc, which ever seat is making the noise. U have to replace the seat track assembly. I've replaced about 8 so far. The dealership doesn't want to replace the seat track cause it costs about $2600. And it raises there warranty numbers. Silicone won't work ! Hopes this helps.

I plan to go back to the dealership or call to make them fix the rattling noise. I will definitely mention the seat track assembly or have them replace the whole chair if needed. I just bought the car as CPO with 54k miles and currently only put 2k miles on the vehicle. So they better fix it, I don't want to be having the rattling noises for the entire time I own the vehicle. Thanks for the info ron and hopefully it does fix the issue.

All I know is that this sound is so friggin annoying and I am going deaf with loud music trying to cover it up!!! When I go in for service, i will certainly bring up the seat track as well. Thanks for the tip ron3261971!

You know I didn't believe it till I rode with a customer and heard it while sitting in the back, we tried silicone, tightning the bolts after looseing them . Nothing worked techline then told me to replace the seat track. But here's the biggest thing you need to know about Hyundai, if you call the 1-800 # for customer service in your owners manual , you will get what u want fix . Crap rolls down hill!

Man I just came back again from the dealership and they gave me the same sorry excuse. Any car shouldn't be making rattle noises and the fact that they think I would believe that the seat is supposed to make this rattle noise is retarded. I didn't complain though because I didn't want to make a scene but I felt like I should of argued more to get them to at least try and fix it. Man looks like I may have to call corporate but I seriously don't want to do that to them lol. Also are you guys able to get loaners? I asked about them and they told me no one gets loaners. This dealership sells Equus as well and I really feel we deserve loaner cars because this is one of the highest classed Hyundai cars. Can I complain for a loaner as well through Hyundai corporate? I get what you guys have been saying now with the crappy service at Hyundai dealerships. I am starting to get annoyed of this myself. Still hoping Hyundai creates a luxury division called Genesis or something.

You can call about your car seat. I'm sure they'll look into it and help you resolve the issue.

Can you try another dealer? Even if you have to drive an hour?

As for the loaner... you're S.O.L... that's a dealer-specific-perk... not something HMA (Hyundai) controls.

Does the rattle seem to start over time, or is it something you had from day one? At this point, my car is dead silent and I'm wondering if this is something that will develop as I'm very anal about rattle sounds.

As for the loaner, I took the car in for a remote start install and they gave me a loaner for the day and a half they were working on it. The loaner I got was the exact same year/model/color with prem+tech package. As has been said though, I'm sure this is dealer specific.
