  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rattling Noise

I had a similar issue. Thought for sure it was the passenger door or seat. Turned out to be the passenger visor...yup the visor rattling. Dealer replaced and this corrected for awhile but it is coming back. I like to keep a microfiber towel in the car for the nav screen so I just folded it and stuck it between the visor and headliner. Problem solved.

I have a squeek on the drivers seat that is driving me crazy. It's a 2012 and it started around 800 miles.

Is it the seatbelt rubbing against the seat? If so, maybe try some "lub" leather conditioner on that spot of the seat etc.

it sounds more like it's the seat back. I'll try the conditioner.
Thanks

Bull, all Hyundai dealers have loaners, they don't won't to give you one due to the fact they think you are satisfied with there explanation of your concern. When you get the survey give them 1's and slam them and call corporate, they will call you and kiss ur _ ss to solve ur issue

I recently took my Genny in for its first service, and I mentioned the rattle to the service advisor. After checking things out, they could not reproduce the rattle noise (coming from the passenger side, I believed it to be coming from the passenger door), go figure. So I asked advisor and tech to go for a ride with me. After finding a relatively bumpy area, voila, the rattling began!! After about 5 minutes of trying to isolate where the noise was coming from, the tech found it around the front right corner of the sunroof (when tech applied some pressure with his hand around the sunroof area on passenger side, the noise would disappear). He said the sunroof mount may have a loose screw or something. They did not have a loaner for me at the time, but I will be taking car back in soon, for this to get fixed. they will need to remove the headliner, and I am hesitant about that as well, but the rattling noise drives me nuts when I am driving low to moderate speed and the car shakes over a small bump or brick pavers, so it must be done. I wil advise what happens once this is fixed (in about a week or two, since I will be travelling).

My rattle was coming from space above vanity light fixture on passenger side. Took me months to narrow it down. Removed fixture and stuffed a good size wad of rug padding in the space and replaced fixture. Problem solved. It got progressively worse as weather warmed.

I have the exact same problem!!
When my wife put her hand right to the sunroof, it stops.... Please let me know what they find as my service center also tells me they can't reproduce it... that's crazy cause my wife and I still hear it!
Thanks!

ARGGHHH! Mine just started doing this last week too!

Gonna try the leather trick for now. If it doesn't solve it... I'll have them look at it when I take it in for the first oil change at 3,750.

This is a real annoying rattle. I don't really want the headliner to be removerd, but I am not going to go another 2 1/2 years to wait to get rid of the car. Glashubm The Genesis is a much quieter car than the Acura though.. I know, as I just got out of a TL SH-AWD (which I loved, btw), so rattle noise is so much more pronounced. fadymansour, yes, that is approx the same place where the tech heard the problem in my car. I don't really think it is the sunroof frame though, I would imagine a leak would be present, but what do I know!! I should be taking the car in sometime next week, so I will keep you guys posted.

I loved my TL's too and miss them sometimes. The AWD was a precison machine that cornered like it was on magnets with razor sharp handling....and rattles.

I do miss the seats too.

The vanity light fixture on the passenger side was the cause of the annoying rattle I've been having since I bought the car. In my case the rattle would only occur during warm days and of course the dealer never reproduced it.

Turns out that the vanity light fixture has a metalic clip on one side that is supposed to hold the whole fixture tight against a metal frame that is glued to the headliner (top side).
In my case, I believe the factory worker may have applied too much force when inserting the fixture and thanks to a bad clip design, the clip ended up above the the metal frame. So, the rattle in my case was nothing but the clip hitting the metal frame from the top while I was driving the car on tough roads.

This whole experience to fix this rattle was a Royal PITA. Since the clip was above the frame, it was preventing me from removing the fixture. I ended up applying so much force to remove it that I bent the clip and caused the metal frame to come unglued. With the clip damaged and frame unglued, it was impossible for me to reinstall the fixture. So, I ended up removing the metal frame and replacing it with a piece of cardboard that I crafted with the exact shape of the metal frame. Also, the stupid metal frame has sharp edges and it cut two of my fingers . It was also damaging the wires so, be careful while handling these wires.

My advice is to first inspect if the clip is properly attached to the metal frame. On the passenger side, the clip is at the right side of the fixture. You can use a flat screwdriver to do the inspection but, be careful not to damage the headliner.

I agree, those TL seats were comfortable. I loved how they held me in the seat. and she shawd, is exactly as you stated, like magnets/ razor sharp. I had complete confidence in the handling of that car, just hated the Michelin's that it came with. The steering wheel was great too. I hate these wooden ones. Love the Genesis though, so no qualms.

Thnaks timeout. I think I will leave this to the dealer, especially if my problem is the same as yours. I'd probably just screw it up!! I will keep all advised.

Timeout,

Can you post pictures of what was the problem and how to fix it?

Thanks!

For what it's worth... I used Meguiar's Leather protectant between the seat and the belt assembly two weeks ago, and the squeak has been completely silenced.

:)

I am anxiously waiting to see if they can fix ur rattling noise... let me know!
