  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my 3.3T G70 for a little over 2 months now, it being the first performance oriented car I've ever owned (this is key), and the amount of attention it gets from other drivers is a little crazy. Almost every day I drive it I get someone do a close flyby near me in light/moderate traffic, ranging from run-down modded pickup trucks and stock FWD econoboxes to M4s/mustang GTs and other high end performance cars. I know this is due to the car because this almost never happened/happens while driving my previous 2015 Genesis or 2018 Accord, both of which are invisible to others, and so this is all really new to me. I ignore the other drivers because I'm not a big fan of drag racing in public roads and just enjoy going on spirited drives alone in back roads.

I understand if I was driving a civic type R or some other boy racer car it would probably get a lot of attention but I didn't anticipate the G70 would trigger so much reaction from others, given it looks more like a luxury sedan than a performance car. I know it's a rare car now but it's really interesting to see other drivers trying to prove themselves, and is especially notable given my long history with non-sporty cars.

This isn't a whine post or that I don't like the attention, just thought it was an interesting observation and wanted to hear from other G70 owners any interesting reactions they had running into other drivers.

Same...but I am that stoplight whore.

Can’t even tell you how many cars I’ve shamed.

Im actually the opposite. I guess since I live in Las Vegas, the locals are used to seeing crazier cars....but the most Ive gotten is looks (someone pulling up in front of me and leaning out to look through their sideviews to figure out what my front badge is) but Ive only had 1 Charger scat pack pull up next to me to try and race and nothing from anyone else. makes me a little sad

The temptation is real, I've done a couple of red light launches to the speed limit for entertainment and also to present its capability to a fellow onlooker who was rubber necking out of his window to see what car it was. I don't think I'll do any launches next to a performance car though, I feel I'll get too competitive and I'll probably get pulled over.

Location is definitely a factor, LV has so many nice cars the G70 is probably a blip among all the exotics out there. In suburban PA it's mostly commuter cars around here so it gets a lot more attention.

Up in Edmonton I haven't had any reactions at all. No one pays any attention at all, its like I'm driving around in a corolla.
My mustang definitely got more attention.

Not much attention here either except for the gas attendant at the Costco has station the first week I had it.
I only use mine to commute to work so I guess the cows and horses admire it every day when I drive past the million farms on my way to work!

I was fueling up the other day and a guy stopped by to say "nice car man!". Yesterday I was out a restaurant where I had full close up visibility to the car and I noticed a guy really studying it. It looked like he just couldn't figure out what it was. He certainly seemed pretty interested. I've also had the odd long look and thumbs up.

...so certainly getting some attention.

I get attention at least twice a week everywhere, restaurants, gas stations, work, markets, at the mall.

I actually just remembered that a dude rolled down his windows to complement me on my car when I was wiping it down after the car wash. But I think he just said it in passing after asking me where to pay for the car wash!
Didn't sound very sincere or curious. More like an add-on to the thank you!

It's feels like almost a daily thing for me. Being my first attention worthy car this is not something I've noticed before and therefore I'm recognizing quite frequently. I had one person approach me in a parking lot to ask what kind of car it was. Mostly I get another driver looking pretty intently almost every time I drive. Even in the winter with the smaller and less flashy rims this is occurring. They give you a long stare with that look of "man that's nice, what is that". I also live in the land of trucks and suv's though, so the G70 stands out even more. I swear the ratio of truck/suv to car is probably 75/25 now. The blue is also pretty eye catching which plays a part I think.

I received and reciprocated the single finger salute to another G70 driver about a month ago. I've only seen two other G70's so far. I know more then that have sold though.
