  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So yesterday we had Professional Civilian Development at work. The location was at the post conference center. When I got there I noticed that there was a parking spot between a Mercedes C-class and a Mercedes E-Class. Well, not one to pass up a good parking spot, I pulled right in between them. After the training was over, I was walking to my genesis R-Spec, when I noticed the two owners of the Mercedes checking out my car. I unlocked it and they were both asking me questions. The first one was, "What kind of car is this?, it looks like a silver bullet". I told them it was a Hyundai. They were both like, "really?" I said "Yes sure is". I was feeling really excited about it until the one asked, "so this is the new Sonota?".

I was like, "What, are you serious?". I chuckled and drove away.

Better then them thinking it's a Chrysler (YUCK). I hate when they ask that.

Just be happy knowing that you paid at least $15-20K less for a vehicle that's equally reliable (if not a bit better) and just a tad less road feel :-)

I've had more people ask me if mine is a Bentley than ask if mine is a Sonata. I've never confused a Mercedes with a Bentley.

I usually start by saying it has 429hp. :D They will never mistaken it for a Sonata.

Ive been asked if mines is a Bentley twice in the last month by BMW owners. Outside of wings not sure how you would think that but ill take it.

I usually reply to this question with: It is the Korean Mercedes E series...made by Hyundai

I've gotten a few gawks on the road before (I thought this one gal was gonna break her neck), but I've never had any really enjoyable interactions -yet.
Sadly, I once parked in a lower income, blue collar sort of area (great restaurant), and later came out to find some loser had apparently taken offense to my car and actually SPIT on both the windshield and rear window. I assumed he/they thought that it's a Bentley, and were offended by my audacity to own such a fine car that so clearly robbed them of what they should be given. Guess I'm very lucky they only spit.
