In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Real World MPG Numbers?

For those familiar with I-85 through North Carolina, you'll know the average speed is 72-80 mph. At 72-75 mph I get 31-32 mpg. Faster than that, mileage dropped off to 28-29 mpg.

Very familiar with I-85 in VA/NC. You can let loose there between Petersburg and Durham! Watch out for the rough road surfaces though! It's a lot easier to reach those good mileage points there than it is in your neck of the woods. I am a Hampton Roads native, and I know the roads there are clogged unless you are out in the late PM/early AM. For such a large car, the Genesis posts great numbers at a constant 70-80 MPH IMO. Anything other than those speeds, the mileage is just average.

Now that there are a few owners on here of the Genesis 3.6 V6 I am curious about some real world long term MPG figures.

The reason I ask is because I recently read the Edmunds review of the Genesis and noticed on the dash what appeared to be 16.xMPG.

Can you Genesis owners please share your MPG numbers along with your approximate City / Highway driving Percentages?

njohnson, I have 4400 miles on mine and avg between 460 and 490 miles to a tank of gas, I am easy on the gas pedal staying between 55mph and 60mph

Doggone, Moose, this must be Old Home Week! I grew up in Raleigh, went to school in Durham. I knew Holly Springs sounded familiar, but I had to Google Earth to find it.

I have a 50 mile commute each way and am averaging 27-28 mpg with the 3.8 love it !!!!

Too funny! Most people have to google Holly Springs. Used to be a small, one stop light crossroad. Not anymore. I guess I could say I live in Cary. On second thought, maybe not! ;)

I should be heading to Newport News in the Genny in a couple of weeks for T'giving. Looking forward to the good gas mileage and turning heads along the way!

Still early on with my car, at 1400 miles, but I calculated 27.6 mpg on my last roadtrip in and out of Atlanta. Mostly 65-75 mph, with some stops here and there. Glad to see that economy improving a bit. Still hope to get over 30 mpg on those trips, as I did in my Acura TL. I am getting 22 mpg in around town driving, very little of that stop and go. I do find my calculated mileage coming in a bit higher than the dash reading.

I'm still around 18-19mpg in city driving. Even when trying to drive carefully I can't seem to get above 19mpg w/ my V6. Highway mileage continues to be impressive for a RWD car of this size (between 27-29mpg depending on terrain/speed limit).

J,

That is pretty much where am I too with the V6. Most tanks are around 20.5 - 21. This is probably 70% city/jammed hwy 30% open highway (70-75MPH). I have had a tank as low as 19 too. Pretty much mimics the MPG I used to get out of my '06 Avalon.

1st tank and..........WOW! 27mpg. Lots of highway but plenty of city also (best guess 70/30 hwy/cty). Logically I can say I'm getting more than 27mpg on the highway. Cheers.

Just did 560 miles yesterday with an average speed of 63 mph in my 4.6 2010. Averaged 26 MPG. I was NOT driving gently with fuel economy in mind. Under 2K on the Odometer.

About 650 miles on the odometer of our V6. First tank full measured 21.5mpg, in mostly highway driving (though short/15 mile trips.) The fuel mileage gauge read an optimistic 22.7mpg. This makes sense since the speedo reads a bit high. I was expecting a little better mileage.

I did notice the mileage really goes down if you get on it...even a little bit. When I filled it up this time I drove like there was an egg under my shoe and got 26mpg for the first trip (12 miles, mostly highway.)

I hope it gets better as it breaks in. We got about 20.5mpg from our AWD Volvo XC70 with my wife driving it under the same conditions. Was hoping to get 24 or so, from the Genny.

P.S. How many people measured the actual mileage vs. what the gauge tells you. Like I mentioned. Ours reads high.

I just took a trip to Baton Rouge from Houston, TX and I got 24.5 MPG in my V8 on the way there and 27.5 MPG on the way back. The weather on the way to BR was windy and rainy and on the way back to the weather was beautiful.

Anywho, I got 402 miles to that tank on the way back. I was very impressed.

Typically around town- stop & go driving- 18.0- 18.5 MPG. Highway- long trips- hilly terrain- 25-26 at 70-75. Ave. 21

Wait until you have around 10,000 miles on the car to see better fuel economy once the engine and drivetrain is more broken in. This was the case with my genesis and the case with my bro's GT limited Legacy and my 2006 Sonata LX (3.3L V6)

Hey, I'm in Raleigh too - we could almost have a quorum for a meet!

Fwiw, with about 10k mi on the V6, I recently got 29 mpg hwy on a drive up from Charlotte. City mpg continues to be 22-23.

Gennie is averaging about 17.7 around town (mixed between my wife's driving and mine). She is a lightweight....my right foot weighs almost as much as she does.

On the highway most of our traveling is between Colorado and Arizona; we average about 28 mpg using cruise control set at the speed limit (75). Checking the DIS I can see a fairly wide range of highway mpg based upon the terrain (plains vs. mountains vs. foothills). I continue to be impressed at the ride and quietness gennie provides: absolutely the best [road] car I have ever owned. :D

I feel the MPG measured on just a few gallons is not statiscally reliable. Just did my first long highway trip, NC to FL, mostly at 75-80 mph (Don't report me!), and the manually calculated mpg was 27.7 vs 26.5 indicated on the dash. This is with the V6, just coming up on 4000 miles. I still hope for better mileage after break in. Mixed town driving is approximately 21 mpg for me.

On a trip last week to Gainesville from South Florida I did appox 26 mpg over a 300 mile span. I noticed the tipping point of when the mileage would not increase was 80+. Once I was going 80-82 on the FL turnpike I even started to go down alittle. If I kept the speed 79 and less it would increase or remain the same. As much as I wanted to get as much mileage as I could, the nature of my trip was to get there as quickly as possible and on the way home as well.

Typical day-to-day driving mixing 30% city/70% highway, most weeks I'm 22-23 on average. Some rare weeks I might hit 24 and others may be 21. Since my driving is pretty consistent, I wonder if it's the gas used that could be a factor.

I now using Fuelly with integrity, averaging 14.0 city. Next fill will have some non-city.
