  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ugh, I feel so sick. So I backed into a trailer hitch on a big truck at work. It was dark and next thing I know I heard the crunch. The dent is small but I still want it fixed. Any idea what type of fix this would be or ballpark figure? Would the whole bumper need to be replaced?

somebody put a dent in my rear bumper probably more than yours. $1100 had to replace and repaint and make sure sensors were fine.

Did you get it fixed at a Hyundai body shop or 3rd party? How much is the bumper?

If only the plastic bumper cover needs repair, it probably will not cost $1100.

Take it to a couple of body shops and get a free estimate. You are wasting your time trying to get an estimate on this forum. At least where I live there are plenty of excellent independent body shops.

Amen:

this is not the place to look for prices

look around

talk to friends

go to body shops

people on this forum don't fix bumpers - for sure

I would also try those Scratch & Dent repair guys that come right to your to fix dents. Worth a shot.

Question: Did you have your Parking Assist button turned on at the time and it failed to notify you of the trailer behind you?

In NJ, Pistacataway Auto Body quoted me $1,100 to repair some deep scratches and a deep gouge on the back rear bumper from a public parking garage paint trading. That was for a full fix and repaint. However they also quoted me about $130 to buff it out and touch up the gouge, said nobody would notice it but me. 5 stars from 333 users agrees with them, will be doing this in the near future.

personally I wouldn't do anything about it. too small and it wouldn't bother me that much.

Similar damage on our Odyssey bumper was about $300. All they needed to do was minor fill & sand, and then partial respray.

I removed the bumper and sensors and just gave them the bumper so we could continue to drive the car. Took them a couple days. Only took about 20 minutes to R&R the bumper myself.

considering its under the reflector they can blend the paint in without replacing the whole bumper... imo

Mine wasn't the back, but the front. Hyundai charged $1300 to repair, but that included $450 for a replacement grille. After the spot repaint they did a clear coat of the entire bumper cover.

That damage looks like something that can be heated up and molded to (at least close to) perfection. I doubt that would be very expensive. Wherever you go, don't go in there acting like it's the end of the world. Just be like, "Eh. I don't know. I don't even know it's there but maybe I should just get it fixed"...

$300-$500 would be reasonable. I need to have my rear bumper done, a car rubbed my bumper in a parking lot.... and they left. My body guy said he can sand it out and do a partial spry then clear the whole bumper. Mine will cost $300. Yours has to be sanded and filled but the same type of paint work.

Thanks for all the input. I'll have to start shopping around at a few body shops.

Cheapest option is to take it to nearby Body repair shop. Body repair shop in my area charge around $75/dent about an inch in diameter + $50 for repainting.

I like that option...
