    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rear diff fluid change

Need some emergency type help here: I am attempting to do the rear diff fluid change and finally got all the sockets and got under but the drain bolt is completely rusted and corroded to the point that pieces are falling out. I did break it loose but now I need to replace it before i put it back or risk getting it drilled out next time. Anyone have part numbers for the 2 fill and drain bolts and washers for 2012 3.8L Genesis?

BTW, used these 2 videos posted (Thanks Jep204):

Confirm the part numbers I got for my 2012 3.8L Genny so far:
Differential Fill Washer: Part No.: 53084-39000
Differential Drain Washer: Part No.: 53072-39000
Drain plug Part No.: 53070-39000
Fill plug Part No: 53082-3C000

Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90, 2 Quarts
Fill= 28 ft lbs conversion from 4 ~ 6 kgf.m
Drain= 34 ft lbs conversion from 5 ~ 7 kgf.m

24MM or 15/16 Socket with a 3" or 6" extension bar to get to the Fill plug at least.

Okay: was able to finally finish the Rear Diff fluid change. Got 2 new plugs and 2 new washer all for about $24.xx from Hyundai in Florida (I am in PA) which isnt a bad spend. I am concerned with the under carriage as I had the recall done where it looks like they sprayed black pain/coating on certain parts of the suspension but the rear diff for example has tons of rust as was the case with the drain plug.....not sure if its a good idea to buy some black high temp spray and put it on?

Also, I did my level best to have the car leveled but what if I am a little short of the said 1.5Quarts of fluid, said 1.2-1.3? Will that make a difference? Asking as it feels like the car has a slight delay when accelerating or could be just coincidence....next up will be the tranny flush (unless I get it over to Kia who quoted me $200).

I would make sure to have the exact amount of diff fluid that it says, don't use too much during the "attempt to flush deposits" phase. My diff was done by the dealer between 86,000 and 89,000 miles and I am currently at 203,100 miles. Once again will get to it very soon.
Great deal on the new plugs and washer gaskets.

Im thinking about using the following:
Severe Gear synthetic extreme pressure lubricant 75w90 AMSoil

Diff fuid is cheap. Buy an extra quart and return it if you don't use it.

For corrosion control, use Fluid Film.
