  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I love my Genesis and I wanted to make sure the license plate frame (Hyundai part #00402 31923 - License Plate Frame, Chrome) and license plate wasn't going to scratch my new paint. I think I found a pretty solid solution and thought I'd share.

Here is the Frame back:

There are some small tabs to hold the bottom of the plate:

Since the small frame tabs cause the top edge of the plate to lever out of the frame, your plate will end up resting against your the paint behind the frame.

You can see the difference in angles in this shot (with the ):

As you saw in the shots above, I used some clear cushion/bumpers to force the plate away from my paint. I found what I think is the perfect set by measuring the distance between the inset area of the plate and the edge of the frame and was able to find some clear cushion/bumpers to use. You can probably find them at Lowe's for about $3. The ones I used (Waxman #0066956) are also available via [ame="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PAZ3PC/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_ulnhub1BQ36QJ"]Amazon[/ame].

Here is the layout of where I placed the bumpers:

It turned out really nice and the spacing of the frame from the paint is perfect all the way around. If you are interested in seeing the stand-off distance between the paint and the frame, let me know and I'll post an image of it.

Hope this helps

Brilliant! Simple!

I use a slightly simpler solution. I attach my license plate and frame using nylon bolts, nuts, and washers. You can get them at any hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc) in the metal cabinets in the hardware section (or just ask a salesperson for nylon bolts, etc.). The bolts are easy to cut to length with any kind of saw (hacksaw, etc).

I do like the idea of rubber bumpers you used, but would be afraid that the stick-on kind might fall off at some point.

I did something very simliar when I picked up me new plates back in June. When I saw that the plate/frame could rub on the bottom edges, I used rubber bumpers too (but lower profile round buttons). It works well!

I have always used topper tape. Topper tape is meant for mounting cabs to pickup trucks. Very nice quality foam strip that is sticky on one side. I stick a length to the top and bottom of the plate and install like normal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Topper-Tape...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd3af503d&vxp=mtr

If you want the real ultimate fasteners then there are universal stainless steel hardware kits with rubber feet and isolating rubber washers. Combine this with topper tape and you have the ultimate. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ac...25q1?itemIdentifier=975129&_requestid=5050530
