  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rear out side mirror does not open or close. You can hair the motor working. Any one have this problem?

Marty

That would make me pull my hear out!

Do you consider the right or the left (or both) to be the "rear" outside mirror?
Anyway....

I'd guess that's a right-side mirror and our OP is a victim of autocorrect.

I also recommend the $20 part and a couple hours of labor gear-replacement method. The alternative is $1000+ at your local dealer. Ask me how I know.

How do you know?

How do you know?

Had my driver side mirror replaced under extended warranty a couple years ago for gear failure. Symptom: Makes noise, doesn't move, eventually times out and stops after 20-30 secs.

Service Mgr said he subbed out the entire job to a local body shop since it had to be painted. I printed out the thread from this forum and showed him the directions with all the pictures. He agreed he could get the part in a couple days and it would take his tech only a couple hrs, but said it's better business for him not to pay his tech to have to figure it out and just have the body shop do the entire job, since that's what they normally do for body parts like this. Invoice was approx $1100. Zero cost to me due to my HPP Platinum zero deductible extended warranty.

Thanks for the reply. I am out of the HPP Platinum zero deductible extended warranty by four months. But I will try my local body shop to see what they would charge to repair the mirror.

Ah, yes, the extended warranty really pays off in situations like this. The extended warranty on my ‘12 Genesis runs till August ‘24. I transferred the warranty, along with the car, to my Son last year.
