  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Need some help and didn't see anything in the manual or doing a search.

I just went past 100,000 on my 2009 3.8, and have my first issue - though not a big one.

The light on the rear driver side is out and I can't figure out how to replace it. Doesn't look like I can access it easily from the trunk. It looks like an LED from the outside, but not even sure about that.

Any help would be apprecaited

I don't believe it is an LED. Did you have an extended warranty? Only the drivetrain is covered up to 100K miles.

I assume you need to remove the trunk lining near the lights to get at it. You may have buy new push button tabs to replace the trunk lining if they break while you remove them. You can get them at a dealer, or a lot cheaper on eBay or Amazon.

Are all the lights out, or just some of them? There are brake lights, rear lights, and turn signal lights in there.

I guess it's the rear light. I've always called it a parking light. It's not the brake light or turn signal. It's the long lights on the bottom. Check out the pic in my original post.
Thanks

I can't tell anything from the pic about which light is out, but I am sure you can tell by comparing it to the other side.

You should check the owner's manual. If you don't have one, register at www.myhyundai.com and download one.

The manual says there are 4 lights in the unit:

Rear combination light bulb replacement
(1) Back-up light
(2) Rear turn signal light
(3) Stop and tail light
(4) Rear side marker light

According to the manual, it shows (with pics) how to replace the turn signal bulb, but says the following about other 3 bulbs:

Back-up, stop and tail light
If the light is not operating, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

I forgot that I had a shop manual online. Here is the page regarding the rear light assembly. Looks like I was wrong, and some of the bulbs are LED, so they say to replace the whole unit if the LED fails. You can check some online junk yards. Also, some members switched their lamps to the 2012+ version and offered their 2009-2011 ones that may have went unsold, and they may still have them (look in the parts for sale section of the forums).

Thanks for this. Very helpful. I just got home after traveling for a week, so haven't had time to really look into it.
Appreciate the advice to check the classifieds too.
