  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've noticed an intermittent problem with my rear passenger door window - and wonder if anyone had the same issue or know how to solve it. Basically, when I get into the car and roll down all the windows the rear passenger window doesn't comply. It's almost like I have the window lock on (or child lock if there's such a thing). WHy it's intermittent is a random times it works. Has anyone experienced such an issue? I'm currently looking for repeatable scenario instances to help pinpoint what could be going on. Thanks for any insight.

Mine doesn't work at all. I'll have the dealer fix it when they finish some other warranty related work. However, there is a fuse for that door that I've not yet had a chance to check (I don't have any replacement fuses), so it may be the culprit. That particular fuse is located in the trunk fuse panel, labeled P/WDW RH and is 30A. (Owner's manual, page 7-75).

fuse wouldn't be intermittent...i had same issue one time when i first got the car and never had any more issues. kept trying and eventually it rolled down. previous owner prob never rolled them down and it was likely stuck to the tracks. try lubing the tracks with silicone spray/grease and clean the window edge.

That is a good possibility. I had a Buick that became a POS when the warranty ran out. Put a rear window down and the regulator broke. Removed the door panel, cut a stick to size to hold it up. Six month later had to do the other side. I think one reason was I never put those windows down and they stuck..

I haven't taken delivery of it yet (they agreed to fix some issues before I do), but I bought a '15 last week and one of the issues was the driver's side rear window wouldn't roll down. I don't know the cause or fix yet. They just told me it was repaired. I'll ask when I pick it up.

I think this car did sit for a while so the theory of the window being "frozen" is probably a good one.

I have seen it in the rear window behind passenger seat . Sometimes the window does not go down atall . How much ever i try from the driver seat it wont go down.

Then the next time car starts and it starts to work . I am sure its something electronic rather than mechanical .

Again since its not reproducible issue my dealer cannot rectify it .

I had this issue a while back, I wasn't using the rear windows, initially the problem was with the passenger side rear then the driver side rear, I have a thread about this here:

Rear windows won't go down on a 16

Anyway, the way I fixed it was after frustration, I repeatedly pressed the window child lock button on the driver's door and it works now. Seems like it had some oxidation on the switch that wore off after repeatedly pressing. Been good for over 9 months now.

I truly believe the worst thing you can do with power windows, power doors, etc is not used them.

I have this mental image now of someone growling with their teeth clinched together while they're absolutely POUNDING the child lock button at about 1000 hits per minute. ;)

I often have to hit the switch twice before my rear window will go down. I normally don't use it but I like to roll down my windows when I cross the border for gas every week so the customs guy can see inside.

Well, whaddya know, this actually worked for me. I received some fuses ordered from Amazon, and went out to check the related fuse to see if that was the issue. Turned out that I was unable to remove the fuse with the provided tool (grr!), so I figured "what the heck", and tried repeatedly selecting the child lock as well as the rocker for the window itself. It was action the window button itself that finally produced results. I'd say I probably exercised it 50-ish times before the magic happened.

There's definitely a ring of truth here.

Thanks for all the replies. Ya it started to work again - most likely from repeated use. Thinking it was either stuck (still cant figure that one out b/c it wasnt struggling and I inspected it) or repeated lock button action. I'll still keep an eye on it.

Same issue with both rear windows. No pattern and after a reboot (engine start), it works fine. It doesn’t happen all the time.

wow, had the same issue and upon seeing this message I immediately mashed my child lock button like 8 times now it and worked instantly 🙏🏿

Funny. I would not have come back to this thread if it wasn't for the last post. Still having the issue, but I was mistaken in what window was causing the.issue. it's actually all three of them other than drivers. If I press those window maybe 4-5 times in succession it eventually will open so I have just lived with it at this time. I will look to press the child lock multiple times to see if it will clear things up. Hope everyone is well.
