However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Has anyone installed any aftermarket rear seat DVD headrests that replace the standard headrests? What manufacturer? Any issue with electronics in the headrests? How do they look? Does it match the fit and finish of the car?

Any pictures?

Thanks.

I think Hyundai offers rear seat LCD monitors as a factory option in Korea.
It'd be nice to source those OEM parts and have it installed.
But I'm sure some decent audio installers can fabricate an adaptor for aftermarket screens.
Here are some examples from Korea;

By doing that, you lose the benefit of the active head restraint headrests that help protect against whiplash...

The solution they're showing above is still utilizing the active headrest module.

Im not sure if sourcing from Korea is a great option. I'm not sure if their DVD standard is PAL or NTSC as here in the USA. Also I'd be concerned about warranty support from an overseas aftermarket company.

Is there no one in the states that will make a unit for the active headrest?

The question was about aftermarket headrest monitors, and I presume like ones that are easily available as universal replacements for many models of vehicles.

Re: PAL vs. NTSC: South Korea uses NTSC (and now ATSC for digital TV), so that's not going to be a problem.

KDM options may be slightly different because non-North American Genesis can have rear seat entertainment controls. And I suspect that you'd also need a VIM bypass to defeat disabling of video while the car is in drive unless you found a way to enable and connect the rear monitors (read on).

That would involve toggling some settings in the DIS service menu to enable rear video and kludging the rear video output plug connection since they're apparently keyed differently. http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2598

(Assuming you're talking about using the DIS system on the Tech Package; if you're doing an aftermarket head unit, then disregard)

No US company makes a replacement yet that I'm aware of.
