<sigh> Another fun problem has arisen w/ this car. Again. So my rear seat began to rattle a year ago. I did what I did w/ my GTIs, put some electrical tape on the latch and it went away. Now it's come back w/ a vengeance. Since electrical tape wasn't working I tried tesa tape. Nope! So I tried greasing the latch and lock. Nope! So I stuck thick foam next to the latch so it placed increased force on the lock when the seatback was up, which would increase tension and minimize jiggle (make sense?). Nope!
Those are all the ideas I can think of or found. The only thing that works is just keeping the seat folded. It's ridiculous. So, aside from tearing apart the seat (found a youtube vid showing how), WTF could I possibly do? It's incredibly obnoxious on the freeway. Keeping the seatback permanently down isn't a viable solution. I don't want to get rid of the car but it's doing its best to drive me to that point.
