Rear Tires for my 4.6L

My 2010 4.6L has 235/50/18 tires all the way around.

Would going with a 245/45/18 on the rears only, help with traction when conditions aren't ideal?

These cars just don't like to get rear traction in wet, sand, etc. so looking for some honest input.

Generally, all other things equal, narrower tires work better in slippery conditions, but worse in dry conditions. That is because there is less downward pressure per square inch on to the road surface, and more surface area below the tread that water, etc has to be evacuated through the groves. Whether it is enough difference to be noticeable may be debatable.

This only applies when comparing the exact same tire model.

I used 255s, I think it was 40R/18 on my 2011 4.6. I got cheap summer tires and they were a blast to toss the car into corners but SUCKED in the rain. So I personally recommend all season tires. Also I had no rubbing issues with the stock 18" wheels.

Definitely all season tires...... I wouldn't go bigger than 245/45/18. Don't know if I should or shouldn't. Only if it'll buy me ANY extra traction in slightly slippery conditions.... rain and sand.... not much snow down here and don't drive it in anyway.
