  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Rear USB outlets are installed!

Lol I'm not worried about that, now I'm intrigued about what's in the trunk, I like my firearms.

Anyways I didn't actually post a link just the site advertisement that is trying to clickbait someone.

But for reference, I'm talking about these.

I just upgraded from the Kia Cadenza to a 2016 Ultimate and was shocked that there aren't any USB ports in the center console (Cadenza has a 12v outlet inside the console) and would like to add something there to hide the wires while charging. So seeing what you did it would make sense to add in both locations if possible. That being said, I have 2 questions for you. First, since you just had it apart, was there anything that you could think of which would prevent adding charging ports to the inside of the console? Second, how difficult was the project for you overall with time and hassles? It looks like something that I'd love to try to do myself if it doesn't take forever and a day... It looks awesome by the way.....Thanks....

I'm not sure if the interior compartment would be feasible since the bottom of the console is supported by a bracket and you also have the air duct underneath and against the rear wall of the console. It may be possible but you may have to find a different style outlet that is much shorter on the blind side. This is the back side which shows the air ducts are close to the console and panel.

It took me about 2.5 hrs but it also included me second guessing my outlet placement and figuring out disassembly without removing the entire console assembly (so I figured out a shortcut o to speak).

I'd say it'd take me about 1.5 hrs doing it again. The most tedious part are 4 of the 6 screws on the rear panel which must be removed with screwdriver extension from the bottom (and 2 of those can only be seen with a small mirror). A little patience is all that's needed.

personally I am going to try installing mine in the rear seat console one on either side of the heated seat switches. when I go on Christmas vacation next month:

Did you ever get to install the USB charging in the rear armrest??? If so could you post or quick write up???? thanks. That's what I was hoping to do.
