  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My vision is to move the spoiler. The rear vision is the worst I’ve ever seen in a passenger car. That ill placed spoiler only exacerbates the problem.
Put the spoiler above the rear window. While you’re at it Genesis, put a small window behind the C pillars, to increase rear vision.
I’ve removed my backseat headrests which help along with a great camera system. I would not buy another GV60, unless rear vision improves. This is my 3rd Genesis.

Yeah, this is one of my few complaints about the car. The old Prius had the same issue.

No question the rearward visibility is weak. Unfortunately there are numerous SUV's on the market with poor rearward visibility. At least our cars have an excellent rear camera and the rear cross traffic detection works well. A feature that I REALLY like is the blind spot warning appearing in the HUD because you don't have to take your eyes off the road to see if another vehicle is in your blind spot. I've never seen another car with this. On the other hand I find the blind spot cameras (that display when you use the turn signals) not very useful because I prefer to lower the steering wheel when I drive and the displays are blocked. I do wish the rear visibility was better, but the issue would not keep me from buying the car again.

I agree. There are many modern vehicles that have rear windows the size of the upper portion of the GV60's rear window. See, e.g., the Porsche Macan. While the lower window is not very functional, it does provide a little additional view compared to just having the upper portion.

Like you, I don't find the blind spot cameras very useful, partly because I am fixed on the HUD, not the display, but also because they make every vehicle behind me look far away. But the Genesis other blind spot systems are right on...especially the HUD!

Remedy: Don’t buy a car without fully considering its design and the tradeoffs created by that design.

The car has a rear view camera, plus blind spot detection and cameras plus rear cross traffic alerts when reversing. Learn to use those technologies to improve your driving experience, or sell the car and buy something that fits your desires better.

2 easy ways to improve: put the rear spoiler "above" the rear window like the Porsche Macan...better looking/improved vision & put a glass window between the C pillar & rear window....

If you think this is bad, the Polestar 4 doesn't have any rear window at all!

I have no complaints about visibility. The GV60 is probably the best vehicle I've owned in several years in this regard - perhaps that's because I typically drive sedans, where there is much less real estate for windows.

I dislike the rear spoiler positioning due to aesthetics and the added cleaning difficulty. As one can easily see out the rear above and below the spoiler, and the effectiveness of the cameras, I don't see any real problem with rearward visibility. There is nothing I need to see that I can't.
The notion of adding a window behind the C pillar seems silly. Given the tiny space available and the angle at which the driver would see out it, there would be no real benefit.

The rear visibility is not an issue if you've driven trucks/vans with no visibility. I think you have to use all the tools you have available to you. Also, like someone suggested, buy a car that fits your needs. Don't buy it, and then complain about it. Complaining doesn't change anything. We just traded out my wife's Range Rover whose real view wasn't great (no issue), and just bought her a 2024 BMW X4 which the rear window view is about like the GV60 (no issue). We didn't buy either vehicle because the size of the rear window. We bought them because we love the cars. If there was something about the cars we didn't like, we wouldn't have made the purchases. These cars cost too much to buy, and not like something that you believe to be so major. I shop until I'm satisfied with the whole car. But that's just me.

I mostly agree. In my experience, no car perfectly meets my needs or most likely anyone else's. But as you note, if it is a major issue to you, don't buy the car. For example, my last few vehicles were BMWs. On most models BMW offers three different seats and each seems to work for some people but not others. A bad seat fitting would probably be a "major" issue whereas changing the steering wheel controls from one side to the other (something Genesis has done on some models) is extremely annoying to me but not a deal breaker.

But how one sees (or senses) people, cars and obstructions in the rear is important. If it doesn't work for the OP, it probably is a "major" issue. But it is one that should have shown up on a test drive.

I have no vision issues with the car, I really like it. The rear spoiler blocks most of the annoying headlights behind me. Having almost no discs left in my neck, my ability to look around is limited so the features are great. This impairment may have taught me to be more spatially aware but I believe I’ve only been caught off guard once in the almost two years of ownership.

As long as you still have discs in between the calipers…. BIG problems if you didn’t. :)
