Congrats on your new winged Genesis! It is so worth doing, it just looks good. I agree the airbag wings do look better but the cost is something to think about. I did get the airbag and have no regrets, it looks complete!

Ok here's my story:
Purchased a kit with the front, rear, and steering wheel emblems off of eBay, paid $40.
Researched how to install, read forums, youtube, etc. Very helpful, thanks to everyone for posting.
I used 20lb fishing line to remove the rear emblem. Worked fine, didn't break even though I had to use a good bit of force in some places. Cost me $2.50 for a spool of it at walmart.
I had more work than I expected with the adhesive. Probably due to it being February and cold, but the emblem came off but almost all of the backing was still on the car. I used Goo Gone (great stuff, its your friend) and just worked at the adhesive until I could get it all off. It helped a great deal to keep warming it up with the hair dryer, that seemed to let the Goo Gone work better and loosen it more.
After the adhesive was all gone (no scratches at all), I used windex to clean the area completely. Then putting the new rear emblem on is as simple as removing the backing from the emblem and placing it into the holes. 30 seconds of pressure and it was done, looks awesome.
I installed the steering wheel emblem cover. It looks fine, though not as nice as the true embedded one. Still debating if its worth the money to buy a new airbag.
I went ahead and installed the front emblem too, I was debating on this but I think it does look good. Removed the posts with a Dremel Multi Max, sliced them right off with no problem. I used the Metal blade but most likely any of them would have worked fine except for maybe the Flexible Scraper blade. I then lined it up and used a trick I read from someone about placing masking tape at the three tips of the emblem. That way when you remove the backing and the adhesive sticks, you know exactly how to place it. Worked like a charm, the emblem is in place and solid, no rocking or bending. The lower tip is about 1 inch above the chrome of the front grill.
All in all, a great experience and I'm quite pleased with the results.
