  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I will be adding the genesis badge to the rear and replacing the flying H, upon doing so I realized instead of having the rear basically say genesis "genesis" I would like to replace the word genesis with the G80..

But I had this crazy Idea that I thought might be kind of cool, finding a red G from say a GT badge and using that instead of a chrome G. I feel like this would give it some cool sporty flare,

opinions and thoughts?

I just realized it might be easier to just spray paint the G from the G80 badge red so you would be sure the G matched the size of the numbers

C'mon no thoughts??

give me something..

- dumb idea?

- terrible idea?

- eh it could work?

- omg you're a genius?

I think it's a great idea. But don't paint the G. Look at other red G's from other cars to find the right font. It's a letter next to numbers, so the font doesn't need to be spot on. I did this with my past Audi and Saab with a letter T.

Customizing one's car is a personal choice and a reflection on your personality. You signed on the dotted line and are making the payments therefore entitled to anything to it you choose.
The car's appearance already oozes enough class to be mistaken for a more expensive vehicle and understatement is what defines class to me.
For me personally any attempt to emulate something that it is not are somewhat pretentious and rather tacky.

Yeah, good point I'll probably avoid painting anything

This is a good point as well..

Some will like it and some won't, as long as you dig it who cares. I think the red G would make it stand out.
I removed GENESIS completely off of my trunk and have a black chrome wing on the trunk only. Was never a fan of the emblem on the hood, even though that's standard for the KDM models. I'm sure people are mixed on this as well.

The only red G I could find is a VW GTI and the G is kind of funky looking. Plus, I think a red G would distract away from the rear centerpiece which is the wing.

i like the rear trunk badge idea.. I was in the dealer last week and i thought about replacing both badges to the G80 ones..

Sorry, but I don't like the idea. Your car, and you can do as you please. While they are essentially the same car, if yours is not a 2017 model year, it is not a G80. No need to pretend these cars are something they're not. They are wonderful cars as they are.

It really isn't to pretend like it's anything it's not, it was more or less just so it doesn't have a genesis badge and then say genesis right under it as well.

Thinking about just debadging the genesis and leaving it plain

That would probably look nice and clean. Sometimes less is more.

anyone remove the Genesis name on the lower rear left of the trunk and replace with G80??

I did. I might see a Genesis once a week here in Cleveland, so I wanted my car to be vague to those unsure what the heck I'm driving. My font matches the 3.8 on the right side and looks different from the thicker real G80 emblem. IMG_1586[1].webp

You have the wrong wings on the back. Those are the 1st gen wings.

I know....I replaced the G2 wing with the G1 hood wing (larger than the trunk wing) after a couple of my friends were trying to figure out what Chrysler car I was driving. I actually like the G1 wing over the G2 wing and the hood wing has a more vertical wing appearance.

If you did, was the Genesis badge held on with only adhesive? Was there any holes under the Genesis and if so did the G80 cover the holes?
Thank you

Yeah I will probably remove the genesis but leave the 3.8. I'm also going to eventually get the 17 G80 wings, I saw a g90 driving the other day and the wings look much classier, they have more "detail" to them then the 15-16 wings.

However, I may wait to see what they do with the 2018 G80, possibly a new wing design again? Or maybe the G70 will have a new wing design.
