  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Equus (2011-2016)
So I upgraded my 2012 to the 2014-16 rims and swapped over my TPMS sensors from my old rims. One of the sensors died in the process so Discount Tire installed a new aftermarket one for $60. They reprogrammed the sensors got them
all connected and I drove off. The next day my TPMS light was on so I went back to the shop and they reprogrammed it again and 10 min later as I drive home the TPMS light came back on. Took it to the dealership and they want $170 to reprogram the sensors.

Anyone else have any luck getting replacement sensors working without this ridiculous $170 reprogram fee? I ordered a used but fully tested OEM Equus TPMS sensor from eBay and I’m going to try one more time to have Discount Auto reprogram the OEM eBay one and see if the Equus will relearn, which is what other Hyundai model’s threads have stated.

Curious to hear your findings or if anyone has more info. Mine appear to be going out and I was curious about this process...

When getting the tires replaced, they wrecked a TPMS sensor on my Sonata I had about 8 years ago. Try as they might, they just could not get the thing reprogrammed properly, and wound up having to take it to the Hyundai dealer and paying to get it reprogrammed. So I'm not surprised to hear this.

So purchased a used but working oem Hyundai tpms sensor. Discount tire reset and reprogrammed all the sensors and tried to reprogram the computer system. Drove for 10 min and the tpms light came back on. Dealership reprogram for $170 is my last option 😣 so bummed. Was really hoping the oem sensor would do the trick. It’s also possible Discount tire doesn’t have the correct tool and another shop might. But not willing to invest another $60 reprogramming at a 3rd party shop.

Will Discount Tire subsidize the dealer fees?

Anyone had luck with buying a scanner and doing this at home? I updated to new Equus rims and the shop did not switch the sensors. I'm not overly worried about the warning light for now but would like to get that fixed eventually and would prefer to not cough up hundreds to get it done.

All they had to do was unscrew them and and mount them on the replacement wheels. Did you pay for mount/balance?

Nope! It wasn't specifically a tire shop but just a mechanic which probably was the problem. I bought Equus rims and tires that were like-new. They moved them over directly, and didn't even have to balance them. I was going to hold onto my old rims and tires but I had to move and didn't want to mess it.
