  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Red & black wires zip tied to trunk strut? Huh?

I need verification on something if you have the time. In my trunk I see red and black wires running from the interior third brake light to the drivers side trunk strut. These wires seem to be spliced in just under the third brake light with splices you might use if adding aftermarket driving/fog lights. I can't remember the name of them. Anyway, the wires there are kind of bundled up and zip tied to the large part of the strut. From there they into the actual body of the trunk lid and I can't tell where they go.

I'll get some pictures later when it's light out, but I wanted to know if everyone's car is like this? I mean, the wires are really visible and look messy as compared to the rest of wiring in the car. I bought this car as a dealer demo so I would assume that it came this way from the factory.

Hmmmm....I think these may be the wires to my spoiler's brake light. If so I'm definitely going to clean up the wiring because it looks cheap and hacked.

I have the 2010 Genesis Coupe and looked in my trunk and could not find any spliced wires. The one wire I did find was on the driver side trunk bracket but it was wrapped in that black plastic wire wrap. No noticeable wire splices here.

Thanks for the info,

Rocky:D

Sounds like the dealer added the third spoiler after the fact, and whoever installed it did a poor job.

Thanks MSA and Rocky. I guess I'll get some convoluted tubing and clean up the dealers wiring hack job.
