  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am looking to buy my first Genesis, used, and have a particular car I have my eye on, BUT . . .

A little concerned about some items on the CARFAX.

Bought new (not leased) in March of this year.

A couple of entries in the Carfax history showing "Body Electrical System Checked"

Each of these "Body Electrical System Checked" entries is listed by itself
(i.e., not on same date as oil change or other routine maintenance)

One at about 4,200 miles (2 months after purchase),
a second at about 15,000 miles (7 months after purchase).

Was traded in a month later.

Frankly I'm a little wary, but I'd like to get some feedback from Genesis owners:
Does this sound like a Major Red Flag, or a minor / routine maintenance item?

Thanks!!

I don't think Carfax gives enough data. If it's possible for you to go to a Hyundai dealership go ask the service reps to look up the VIN for you. They should be able to see all the entries for previous work done on Hyundai vehicles though the information is not voluminous. It's possible that their information may be better than what Carfax has (or the wording may be different).

People on this forum have reported batteries draining overnight, headlights that act up, windows that act up etc.

Went by a Hyundai dealership, the service manager said he could only pull service records by VIN if I was the owner of the vehicle, but he did give me a similar list of "possible" issues.
My gut is telling me to wait for one without the red flags, so I think I will keep looking.

Thanks for the feedback.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I think you are right to let this one go. I don't know too many people that get out of cars that quickly without a good reason. Maybe nothing but let it be someone else's headache.

Hey... Just my .02
Mine has hit 3800 miles and apparently the "Gremlins" are hatching... I couldn't tell you what to do .... I'm having electrical issues to the point that the car is going to the dealer and I'm not picking it up until they're ironed out. If they can't fix them -I will unload the car...... Way too much money for a car to have issues. I believe the quote "BUYER BE WARE" comes to mind

I'd pass on that car. Why take a chance? On the other hand, don't be too concerned that electrical issues are widespread. You will see some reports here, but that's to be expected on any car. I've had my radio/nav replaced, but no other electrical issues. I think you'll find that most of the Forum members will agree, despite a few reports.
