  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone know a way to reduce tire noise? Currently have Michelin Premiere LTX tires on the car that I got in 2016 (car is a 2011 4.6). Tire noise got better from the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 that was on the car when I bought it used in 2015. But I am still dissatisfied with the tire noise. Over smooth surfaces, its very quiet. But over rougher surfaces, it is very loud (to a level that I find unacceptable for a luxury veichle). Where can I add soundproofing to reduce the tire noise. I was thinking insulating the bottom of the car would help, but I am not quite sure.

Tire noise is a result of the tires, not the car. luxury or not. Unfortunately, until the tire is on the car you don't know much about noise from them.

Be very careful with anything you add under the vehicle. years ago cars were undercoated to prevent rust and done wrong, it would trap moisture and road salt and cause more rust.

Alternative method is to turn the radio louder.

You can line the wheel well with felt. Some cars have this from the factory.

I run Pilot Super Sports on my car for wet grip and handling. Don't care much about noise and don't notice since the Lexicon is usually set above 15

I put Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus on the wife's Solara last year and they have been a very good all around tire. Very quiet, smooth riding, with good dry and wet grip. If I cared more about ride and quiet than grip I'd put these on my Genny next.

Its the tires. We use Continentals and they work great.

Noise level varies by tire design, no need to add material to the body.
