  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Ultimate 5.0, about 8K miles.

So far...
cloudy water filled brake lamps - replaced recall
passenger front window sometimes refuses to go down. Dealer could not duplicate (CND)
Rear privacy screen seizes up and wont come all the way down when cold outside. Dealer CND
Jerky hesitation during moderate throttle. Car bucks and jerks. Also when passing (larger throttle inputs) the entire car will seize, buck, no power. Dropping off at dealer this week
Loud bang from rear end when briskly accelerating. CND
Sirius radio locks up/resets randomly - CND

Oh and the radio sucks. 15 year old SUV has a better sounding system/soundstage.

Car is comfortable, great for long drives but at 8000 miles this is really disturbing. This thing is less reliable than my 7 series...

sounds like your experience is the outlier.

sell it and buy something else.

Wow that sucks. For the "could not duplicate" issues, it might be helpful to take a phone video of the faulty behavior to show your dealer. Sorry you're having problems.

Sounds like a lemon! Do you have the lemon law where you live?

Although feel for the OP's issues and frustration, not sure it is lemon material.

One of the items appear addressed already through service bulletins, some cannot be duplicated and one is being examined now (jerky acceleration). The "radio sucks" also won't get a refund.

Sounds like you bought a demo Genesis? Is that correct? I've seen a few 5.0 Ultimates with around 5,000-10,000 miles being offered for sale as new. The thing with demos, in my opinion, is that they're either used for test drives, loaners, or the managers vehicle. I know that some dealerships like to show customers what a fully loaded model is capable of, which is awesome by the way. However, that can lead to problems in the future for the owner who picks it up.

With my experience, not trying to hijack your thread, I threw a Genesis 5.0 the salesman had on the lot into a hard corner and powerslid out when I test drove it. The whole time the salesman was egging me on. I know customers don't really do what I did but they are out there...I had an independent mechanic (friend) come with me to check the Genesis 5.0 that I bought (different than the one I threw into a corner), with 40 miles on the clock. He said everything was cool, plus the 5 year warranty can't be beat, so I bought it.

You're still under warranty, either use it or sell the car, or you can always look up lemon laws in your state as the previous poster suggested.

I know this sucks, I had a problem with the transmission in my Chrysler 300 a week after purchase, and I purchased it with 5 miles on the ODO. Shit happens, sorry you're going through it.

By the way, I raised hell when my Chrysler 300 had that tranny problem. Even called directly to Chrysler Corp to get it taken care of. Goodluck man and let us know what you decide to do.

I guess we'll see how things go this time at the dealer. Not a demo, all of 18 or so miles on it when I bought it.

What is the build date (per sticker in drivers door jamb)?

Damn, that sucks. Makes me leary of the Demo I'm looking at... :(

My rear privacy screen doesn't go down all the way when it's cold. It looks like the motor moves the arms down to close the shade from the top, and it's probably a spring mechanism that pulls the fabric from the bottom. I thought that whatever lubricant they use on the track/mechanism just got too viscous in the cold, and that this was normal. If I'm the only other one, maybe I'll bring it up next time I go on for service.

I've also had the bucking/misfires (flashing check engine light (CEL)) under heavy acceleration. It's only happened a couple of times, and even though it set the CEL and saved codes one of those times they weren't able to reproduce the problem. I almost wish it would start happening more often so I could get it diagnosed and fixed.

mine was a DEMO also... The car had 1870 miles on it and the sales lady kept saying its a new car.. I was thinking to myself its a 2015 with almost 2k miles.. how is it new? just because it was never titled doesn't mean its new IMO. Hopefully you get your issues resolved.

I don't regret my purchase but there's a few things that are getting on my nerve, I'm moving on to a BMW 5 series when the time is right unless Hyundai could improve the reliability. Here's my issues sunroof rattle, squeaking from the passenger seat belt , after 12k miles cabin noise has increased. Rear shade does not retract all the way down and it rattles while driving over bumpy roads. My trunk lock switch stop working the only way to get it open is with the smarth keys or through the cabin switch i can't open manually from the back touching the rear trunk switch. Some of my issues are getting fix through the dealer but I'm so annoyed that I'm not sure if I care anymore

My local dealer, where I've bought 3 Sonatas from in the past, tried doing the same thing to me... only 1,500 miles and it's a new car. I said it's not a new car, and should have less than 50 miles on the odo. I ended up buying out of state to receive the incentives and rebates not available here.

I like the car as well but the roof rattle annoys me. I had the same rattle in the sonata hybrid that the dealer fixed but they just lubed mine now and it helped somewhat for like a month. I also had the bluelink stop working and they had the car for almost a month before they could fix it. Very annoying. Unless they can fix the rattle and I have no other issues for a few years I probably won't buy another hyundai. I had issues with both sonata hybrids's I owned too.

Did you check the valet switch in the glove box?

So far I don't regret it, but this is the reason why this is my very first lease of any car. I really wanted to test the waters of the Hyundai brand, and see how reliable this car is after a few years of ownership.

Only problem I've had so far is the tail light condensation issue, but Hyundai eventually fixed it after 3 attempts, which was pretty annoying having to waste travel time going back and forth to the dealer, but they did fix it, so I'm over it.

Yes. The dealer order a new switch, I hope is the switch and not the trunk smart keys antenna.

Don't forget the outside trunk button only works if all doors are unlocked. If just the driver's door is unlocked, you have to use the key fob or interior switch. It is a little odd, I did not know why my trunk button did not work until I figured it out.

i got the incentives and financed through Hyundai motors but she kept saying it was new...

Legally, in most (if not all) states, the car is technically "new" if it has not been titled.
Of course that doesn't make the car new in the purest sense.
