  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

regular unleaded or super?

No, I did not imply that. However, I did say that changing the octane can have similar effects as the changes you describe above for the changes that are made which do not change the octane rating. I stand by that claim.

??? That reply makes about as much sense as this:

You can stand by your claim as long as you want - that doesn't change the fact this it is incorrect...

That is your opinion. Many do believe that it sometimes helps to run higher octane in hot weather and lower octane in cold weather, assuming that the engine is designed to handle different octane levels and the engine controls can adjust accordingly (as the Tau V8 can, but many other engines cannot).

Actually, it's not my opinion - it's scientific fact! Assuming you are using the fuel grade the manufacturer states is needed, then how an engine/fuel system operates in hot versus cold weather is about the RVP - not the octane.

That should only happen if the some summer mixture high octane gas has been sitting in the distribution system long enough that it ends up in a car after temps have dropped (something quite possible with high octane gas).

Changing from winter blend high octane gas to winter blend regular gas would not make a difference for a car requiring regular gas (or vice versa). Nor would it help a car requiring high octane gas.

New Genny owner here but have driven previous cars that called for Premium, most common to Genesis in engine size and output was 2003 Lincoln LS 3.9L V8.

I've always preferred 4oz of Lucas Fuel Additive every 2 or 3 tanks with 87 Octane gas consistently. I drive right past the haji marts to a Chevron if possible to take advantage of their inclusive Techron fuel detergents as well. Never had any unusual plug/cylinder/piston/injector issues whatsoever.

I'm sure by now you know he's NEVER wrong and knows EVERYTHING!!!
