  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

remote start

Every Genesis has BlueLink built in. You can activate it and get remote start for $99 a year and use the phone app to start it. When I got my 2013 Sonata the BlueLink was unreliable, but recently, it has been faster and 100% solid.

There are different levels of service on BlueLink. Make it part of the negotiations for the dealer to set you up for a year. If you buy a new Genesis it comes with 3 years of service.

As for aftermarket, I have no idea how easily it is integrated with all the electronics in there. I'd only trust someone that had done a Genesis already.

ill see if i can get them to through it in for 1 year we have talked about price ,ill tell him the wife is having seconds thoughts

I just got a certified 2015 and got 3 months bluelink free, but bought the next year. I have loved the genesis app and the remote start. There has been 3 times it failed ( each time with temps below 0 of course ), but I know one of them was the cell phone provider was down here. Each time it came back up later in the day when I tried it. It runs for 10 minutes before it shuts off, but it is REALLY nice to get into a warm car. Temps have been way below 0 here recently.

Nice thing about the bluelink remote is that if you are at a restaurant, you can start it from the table. You don't have to be in proximity to start it.

There are 3 possible components to BlueLink. Connected Care, Remote Start, Guidance. I don't know if you can get remote start without the connected care. If that is the case, it would be $200.
Connected Care

• Automatic Collision Notification and Assistance
• SOS Emergency Assistance
• Enhanced Roadside Assistance
• Monthly Vehicle Health Report
• Maintenance Alerts
• Automated Diagnostic Trouble Code Notification
• Service Link
• Genesis App
• On-Demand Diagnostics
• Driving Information

Remote Package
• Remote Start with Climate Control
• Remote Door Lock/Unlock
• Remote Horn and Lights
• Care Finder via Mobile App
• Stolen Vehicle Recovery/Slowdown/Immobilization
• Vehicle Safeguard Alerts:
1. Geo Fence
2. Valet Alert
3. Speed/Curfew Alert

Guidance Package
• Destination Search powered by Google™
• Destination Send to Car by Google™

Registered to another owner? Is it still active? You can call them (844)-340-9741 and see if they can transfer the account. Evidently the previous owner did not close it. You can try pushing the BlueLink button on the car too.

I'm a little confused over this BlueLink thing.

I'm in Alberta, Canada. I drive a '15 Genesis 3.8. I want the remote start function.

Is this feature available for us in Canada? I would really like to get all the features that BlueLink offers.

This article states that the service is coming to Canada but doesn't say if it's available for the 2015 model year.

Article here: https://mobilesyrup.com/2017/06/08/hyundais-bluelink-vehicle-service-comes-canada/

EDIT: Damn, looks like it's not available. That's a bummer. I guess I have to get an aftermarket remote start??

Looks like it will be some time for complete model coverage. It has to have some of the telemetric components installed. I don't know if it is as all feasible to have some sort of retrofit even if not all functions would be active. I'd go for an aftermarket remote.

Ok thanks. My gf is planning on getting me an aftermarket one for my birthday but I told her to hold off until I found out if the car already had it via the BlueLink. I had a Python 5706P 2-way remote start installed by a professional on my Kia Optima that worked very well. I'll probably go that route again.

Let me know how it goes. Is it another knob to bring with you?

It will be a separate fob. One fob for the car, one for the remote start. If that's what you're asking. The 5706P is also expandable for cell phone use via an app, tho I have never bothered to unlock that feature... I just use the fob.

Why does the bluelink remote start your car it flashes the hazards is there a way to disable that function its very obnoxious early in the morning see that and advertising to everybody nobody is in my car. Its convenient because my car will be warm when I get inside but that other part sucks. Kinda why I didn't renew my subscription. Unless there is a fix

No known fix. This has been discussed before and evidently Genesis thinks it is for safety. Most times it is no big deal but I found it annoying sitting in a restaurant and my car right outside flashing.

Its the little stuff like this annoys me with this car and definitely not a safety feature whatsoever.

I just got BlueLink up and running -

- Starting via mobile app is slow. Sometimes, I'll make it to the car before it receives the signal (usually takes more than 30 seconds and more like 1 minute)

- Annoying flashing lights. People were just staring at my car when I walked out to it

- Mobile app loads slowly

- Not a fan of having to enter a 4 digit pin after I've logged in and then requested remote start

- At least it doesn't turn off automatically when I open the door like my 2018 Toyota Highlander Limited does... dumbest thing ever!

Thanks, rant is over...
