Yes, but you don't really need the guidance. You lose the "send to car" that is handy but not worth $99.

Or you buy an aftermarket start for about that same price and start with a fob. Quick payback.

Problem with after market remotes is they need line of sight plus your liable to have your warranty voided. Least that’s what I’ve heard. And let’s face it in this days world $300 is chump change.

Had one on my last three Sonatas. Range was 1/4 mile and did not void warranty. It was not perfect, but more reliable than BlueLink was. Easier and faster than opening the app at the checkout of the supermarket.

most of the newer systems also include apps you can use from your phone and they range in price from $9 - $49 a month depending on what features you want to unlock.

also add on alarms don't void warranties.

I agree. I use Send To Car all the time. Incredibably convenient. For me it is well worth the extra $100. It can also read the location of appointments from you calendar and then you can just send it to your car.

I really like the blue link. My situation is where I work, and live at my apartments, I don’t have line of sight to use a fob. Using s fob I have to be close to the car and it’s not really cooling the car down being 15 seconds away from my car. In this Texas heat, I start my car 15 minutes before I’m walking out for the end of the day, and when the 10 minutes is up I start it again. My car is super cooled down when I walk out. I priced a system that had app capability like blue link so I can start it anywhere but I had to have another fob (I hate a lot of keys) and a real nice system would run me about $500 installed and I would still have a monthly fee. When I weight the cost assuming I kept the car 5 years I come out better keeping my OEM stuff.

As for bluelinks reliability I had two or three failures to connect in my 1st year,none since.....,course I’m just barely at the end of my 2nd yr.
And’ $300 per year for all three parts that equals $25 a month....... my kids spend more than that on their Starbucks coffee!

I'm using Bluelink and my Amazon Echos to start the car in the morning before I leave for the office (or wherever). It's 95 here now and the car sits outside. I've had about an 85% success rate with it so far via either the app or Alexa. I used it today while out at the mall in the check out line and when we were done eating lunch.

I signed up for the 3 month free trial three weeks ago. Couldn’t get it to activate so Hyundai told me to take it to the local dealer. I need a new head unit. Hopefully they’ll extend my trial since I spent a month just trying to get it activated

Every Genesis has BlueLink built in. You can activate it and get remote start for $99 a year and use the phone app to start it. When I got my 2013 Sonata the BlueLink was unreliable, but recently, it has been faster and 100% solid.

There are different levels of service on BlueLink. Make it part of the negotiations for the dealer to set you up for a year. If you buy a new Genesis it comes with 3 years of service.

As for aftermarket, I have no idea how easily it is integrated with all the electronics in there. I'd only trust someone that had done a Genesis already.

I found that my 2013 Genesis Sedan does not have Bluelink. So not all Genesis have bluelink

I am going to have 3 x lock stock key fob remote start installed this weekend. I don't need range, just something to start the vehicle during freezing winters here in MN. Hopefully this is simple as it sounds. I don't think aftermarket voids warranty as my dealer has company they use to install aftermarket remote starters.
