  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

remote Starter

Hey!
Genesis has one of the most intricate wirings I have seen in a while. I am in the process of installing mine. Push to start/smart key can be really tricky if you are not careful.
My suggestion is to have a pro install it if you are thinking of it. This is not a DYI project.
I have been installing for over 10 years. This thing is cutting my tail but it is ok. Pre-wiring before it goes in the car is very important (soldering/cutting right length, etc).

The unit I am installing is CompuStar. The bypass is VERY important. I installed one in a Sonata and it works PERFECT just so you know.
Again, it is all about the installation.

Just my 2 cents... :)

Thank you !!! would you say 400.00 would be the going price?

$400 sounds about right if the Remote start includes security alarm too. Just haggle with your installer.
Find a shop that specialize in remote starts and just ask 1000s questions.
The main cost is the bypass and install time.

Here are your options:

1. Remote start add-on (use factory remote and aftermarket remote)
2. Security Alarm + Remote start (more expensive option but you have DOUBLE security)

The BYPASS is cheap but it has to be installed good. Bypass made by iDatalink is what I am using. It has to be programmed to interface with your car's computer.

See what options you would like and go from there.
Bestbuy I hear installed pretty good. Never been but I hear good things.
Again, depends on installer.

Good luck!

WHOA!

May I ask what brand alarm and bypass?
As far as relay, if you are adding remote trunk release and window roll/down module that is all I can think of.
I have stopped for a moment on mine because i dont have time.
DIODES yes. but relays dont cost much.
They are just stumped by the installation as it can be intricate. :)
always get a 2nd quote.

Find another shop man.
at worst $600 TOPS in my opinion.

Just my 5 sense...

$225 install remote start. $75 databus interface module. 11/18/12 install date in NY. Avital 4003. additional fob but small and not to obtrusive. still running strong.

Window relay...but yes that hurt my feelings so much I stopped looking...lol..but I may look more..that was 1k for just labor..I was going to buy the alarm 3rd party.

YeH I am crying for you. If I all fails, check out Bestbuy. At least you have a shop anywhere in the USA if you cannot find a shop.

Checkout Compustar and see if there is a shop besides Bestbuy that will install.
You can use the factory FOB too if you would like.

Keep looking dont give up.
