  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know the process or have a video/write up on removing the intake manifold on the 5.0 V8. I have a little over 30k miles and wanted to check for carbon buildup on the intake valves and then clean with a bore brush if needed.

I might even invest in an adaptor to walnut blast the valves since I already have a small sandblaster. Just wondering if anyone has done the job themselves. Can't find anything on youtube or this site related to pulling the manifold for the 5.0

Thanks for any input. I'll document the process if I decide to go ahead with it.

I also have this question, but I think rather than do that, I'll just get an endoscope and scope the valves first. Why not just do that?

That seems to be the most sensible. Once the car is up and running again, you still can use the endoscope around the house. Your family can get a DIY weekly checkup to be sure things are working properly. Soon the neighbors will be inviting you over for dinner and "Hey Mark, bring your scope".

Here is the information I obtained from the Hyundai service manual. Sorry, the pics did not copy over and the links are closed.
