  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was at a stop light when I heard 2 pops. Turned around and noticed driver and passenger headrests were split apart in the middle. Got home and looked in the owners manual and it said that the active headrests will activate if a rear collision is sensed. I wasn't rear ended nor did I back into anything. Any advice on how to repair the 2 headrests without taking it in to the dealer and having them charge me $$$$$ to fix them? Thanks

Found an older thread with a link to a tech service bulletin. Worked like a charm.

Use a 9volt battery to reset the headrest mechanism. At the bottom of one of the "legs" of the headrest, you will see two electrical pins. Use a 9 volt battery lead from an old clock radio. When you make contact with the pins, you will hear the latch reset. Now you can compress the headrest and it will lock back into place.
